Duskblade for 5th Edition

Suggested Price $1.00

For those characters who fondly remember the Duskblade from 3.5, presented here is everything you need to play one in 5th edition!

Rather than building the Duskblade as a subclass, it's presented here as a standalone class, as it was "back in the day". The Duskblade for 5th Edition has three archetypes, each with their own distinct feel, flavor, and mechanics to maximize replayability and player satisfaction:  the Spellsword, the Abjurant Champion, and the Beguiler. Also included are multiclassing requirements and a class-specific spell list.

I sincerely hope you'll find something to inspire you, and that you'll get to enjoy playing the Duskblade in your campaign!

Hey just had a question I been having a hard time finding the answer to. Does Arcane Strike still count as taking an Attack action to allow for extra attack?

Hi Drago E,

Thanks for your interest! Sorry for the confusion. In short, the Duskblade can use the Arcane Strike feature as part of any type of action with which he/she makes a melee weapon attack... so, with either (or both, with the Extra Attack feature!) attacks taken as part of the Attack action, or with the bonus action attack if the Duskblade is dual-wielding two weapons, or as an Attack of Opportunity reaction, etc.... It's an incredibly versatile feature for the Duskblade, and it's meant to be! :)

Hopefully this answers your question; have you enjoyed playing it? Thanks again for stopping by!

It looks interesting but I do have one criticism.

When I played a duskblade, one of the things I most loved was being able to move quickly on the battlefield with spells like Ex. Retreat, and teleport spells.

There are no spells like this on the duskblade spell list.

Thanks for your input! Expeditious Retreat may have been an oversight; I'll have to review my notes and see if there was a specific reason I didn't include that in the duskblade's spell list.

As an FYI, with the release of the Xanathar's Guide to Everything, a few spells were added to the spell list. They are as follows:

1st: Zephyr Strike, Chaos Bolt
2nd: Mind Spike
3rd: Melf's Minute Meteors, Thunder Step
5th: Arcane Weapon (Duskblade's version of Holy Weapon except that it deals force damage instead of radiant and uses d6's instead of d8's), Far Step, Steel Wind Strike, Synaptic Static

Again, I'll review if Expeditious Retreat is a spell I specifically left off the spell list for a reason, and if there wasn't I may add it as a corrective revision; I agree it is odd that it isn't on there. I'm glad you found it otherwise interesting; thanks again for your comment!

Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
