CCCTHENT01-02 Those That Dwell Beneath

ADD TO WISHLIST >

In ruins near the city of Thentia, grungs have been trying to build a portal where they could move slaves in secret from the city of Melvaunt. But something sinister took hold of them, trapping them in the darkness. A map of the ancient city, which once stood on the surface of the land, leads the adventurers deeper into the catacombs. But will they find glory and riches? Or horror and death?

A 2-hour adventure for 1st-4th level characters.

Those That Dwell Beneath premiered at Conclave of Gamers 2017 and Tri-State Gamers Fall Tri-Con 2017. It is the second part of the Squamous Writhings trilogy.

Maps for encounters and Adventurers League magic item certifications are included!

Question. In part 2 of this adventure, it isn't revealed that there are more people present beyond the merchants, Dorren and Matthew. Is this intended? Most players that see this will already thin it odd that there are two people and a bunch of merchants selling potions and meat. I want to add more people on the streets, but don't want to stray too far off your vision if it was solely intended for the grandfather, the boy and the merchants to be the only ones in this part.

Marcello, good question! Yes it is intended, but only due to the time limit on this CCC. I really hope that DMs feel empowered to add NPCs in the lost city when not dealing with the 2-hour time limit...the city is left open for a good bit of interpretation so that it can be what DMs need it to be for their particular group. This adventure was coming down the pipe just as AL was pushing for more DM control, and the city is a big part of that empowerment for this adventure. :) Have a blast with it! :D

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
