DDAL07-04 A Walk in the Park (5e)

ADD TO WISHLIST >

A mysterious clue has led you outside of the safety of the city’s walls and into the jungle beyond.

You have been asked to venture into the jungle and seek out the wisdom of some of the native humanoids in the area—perhaps they will be able to shed some light on the situation and provide some insight on who is behind it all.

Part Two of The Jungle Has Fangs Trilogy.

We (Wizards) recognize that some of the legacy content available on this website does not reflect the values of the Dungeons & Dragons franchise today. Some older content may reflect ethnic, racial, and gender prejudice that were commonplace in American society at that time. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. This content is presented as it was originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed. Dungeons & Dragons teaches that diversity is a strength, and we strive to make our D&D products as welcoming and inclusive as possible. This part of our work will never end.

I thought this would be a really short session, and it actually turned into the longest. Depending on your players, RP at The Satchel Shop could be seconds or last 30 minutes. Overall, it's a little forgettable. Seems like just a bridge to get the players from the city to Bulobo. I think I would've liked one encounter in the jungle as an intro into the dangers of Chult. The text mentions how dangerous it is but they don't really see it outside of the mudslide. There was a little bit of description that didn't make sense though - it says the humans show the players the village, but then they say they'll wait to go back in when it's dark. Were there no Yuan-ti around the first time? It just doesn't really make any sense. But overall my players made the adventure fun and it's easy to run for a DM.

Rating: 4/5

A dull point in the adventure at first but a tough battle at the end.

Initial roleplay that can either be an hour long or a minute long depending on the DM and players. Final fight (while balanced for it) seems like something bigger than tier 1. Overall unfulfilling module without player help to flesh it out.

Particularly short, this adventure can be run in as little as an hour, or made to last a full 2. The end of the module leaves the players very much in the middle of nowhere with a cliffhanger in the story, so it would be best to run either immediately before Whispers in the Dark, or perhaps go straight from A Day at the Races to Whispers in the Dark, if you don't have time to run all three.

Adventure a bit boring. It is very short and with very few fights and enigmas. I did not like it very much.

I didn't found this adventure really interesting: there aren't enough challenge for players (the part where they have to chase the mugglers is the only one, but it's a "Filler")...the players have only to follow Wadumu and don't have to do anything until final battle, where the enemies are really weak, turning this battle in only a boring waste of time...

This adventure was a nice change of pace from the normal. However the adventure seemed as thought there was something missing after the final battle. Felt like there should have been a bit more.

Ran this for a small group. The mudslide was pretty deadly, and Suggestion used on a Barbarian is pretty rough (tried to get her to throw her longsword in the fire). The Yuan-Ti paid for it when the barbarian got double 20s on her reckless attack.

The adventure is pretty compact, and I ran it in an hour and a half. Much better than Day at the Races.

Ran this for a small 4 person group as preparation for a larger group the next weekend. The players enjoyed it, but did get a little baffled about what to do at the satchel shop. The mudslide almost killed the wizard, but the barbarian saved her. One player actually said she's dead nothing we can do. Lol. At the end everyone enjoyed themselves.

Yay Satine! Nice having a few RP bits thrown in instead of pure murderhobo AL sessions.

A pretty good play. I paired it in a session of 4 hours with Whispers of the Dark. A pretty steep run into the jungle with 7 people. I loved the fact that this part is written by Satine Phoenix. There is a good vibe about this ongoing hiking part and I found the little frog to be actually a masterpiece of baiting tool. It's so cute.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
