One-Shot: The Storm to Come

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The Storm to Come is an original adventure set in the Forgotten Realms using the rules for the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons.

The adventure is usable at any level and is designed to bridge the gap between two adventures through your campaign. It is set on a passenger ship called the Cove Cutter and involves a mystery in which someone aboard is trying to sabotage the voyage. The motive for the sabotage varies and should be adapted to fit your campaign. It could also be used as a standalone adventure.

The Storm to Come is a combat-lite adventure, focusing more on intrigue and character development than battle. There is one major fight and a potential boss fight at the end.

I'm seeing this advertised in the solo/duet adventures section, but it looks like it's intended for parties of three or more plus DM? I think the 'standalone' is maybe being misunderstood by someone?

That's really odd. You are correct – this is not a solo adventure.

Hello,

I've almost finished reading through this adventure, and it's very enjoyable. I'm really looking forward to using this as a beginning to my new campaign.

One issue I have found with it is that you have the Raven cast Suggestion and Fireball. Familiars can only cast spells with a range of 'Touch.'

When I run it, I'll be working around that mistake by just imagining that she is actually hiding nearby while she casts suggestion herself, but looking through the ravens eyes. (As the rules of suggestion requires her to see the target and the target to be able to hear her.) So she could still believe it's the raven.

In terms of fire.. I'm just going to give her the shocking grasp cantrip and imagine a few zaps can light it on fire, since the storm is gone.

The changes done make a huge difference as they're things that will happen in the background.. but incase she's somehow forced to tell the truth of how those things happened. I don't want my players...See more

Thank you, and sorry for the absurdly delayed response. In the updated version of this adventure, I have addressed these issues.

No worries! I sadly never got to run the whole one shot, due to scheduling issues, couldn't run it until not long before covid; so only had one session - and my players already take longer to do any sort of quest than expected haha.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
