Welcome to Chult!

This product lists 20 random encounters/locations for a DM to use to add to any jungle/wilderness game, similar to Appendix B in Tomb of Annihilation.  Encounters include:

  • Fantastic Locations
  • Strange Personalities
  • Magical Phenomena
  • and more!

Most of the encounters are non-combat encounters, and all are designed to fit easily and quickly into your game as stand-alone situations.  These encounters can help you quickly add to the mystery and flavor of the exploration of Chult!

If you like these encounters, please consider Travel Encounters, presenting non-Chult encounter scenarios, or More Chult Treasure! presenting 20 new, Chult-inspired magic items for your game.

This is an excellent little doc, lets me quickly fill in some of those empty hexes. My only suggestions:

1) Add page numbers.
2) Add average damage numbers as per 5e standards to any of the damage you have.
3) Hyperlink wherever possible to the 5esrd site.

Otherwise, thumbs up.

Wow. I understand the need to get something on the market as quick as possible to cater for the new product but why miss including the basics. At least you remembered to place the WotC Legals, abait at the back but at least it's there. Some sort of credits page listing who the writer/s are, who did edits, proofreading, playtesting, layout.

Missing the basics makes we worry about the content. We'll have to see on that one.

Hey Ken, thanks for your comments. I picked up a copy of the Tomb of Annihilation at HasCon, but had already done my own 5e adaptation of Island of Dread for a home campaign, so it was really incredibly easy to put this together. About the basics, this is my first submission to DMs Guild, and while I did read the submission guidelines and made sure to include the DMs Guild logo, legal language, etc., I'm not sure what else is typical. I did the writing, editing, proofreading, and layout myself. The content is original. The pictures are mine from Hawaii. Which looks a lot like Chult. I welcome any additional comments and constructive criticism, and hope you enjoyed the material!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
