CCC-QCC2017 Delusions of Grandeur, Dreams of Revenge

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The factions have heard murmurings of a new cult rising from the ashes of the obsessed dragon and elemental evil factions that they have dealt with in the past.  This time, though, they seem to have an even more apocalyptic goal.  A deep gnome informant claims the cult is dabbling with dangerous magic, but he, too, may have his own agenda.

A 4-hour D&D Adventurers League adventure for characters levels 11-16 starting in Mulmaster.

This adventure is intended as a sequel to Princes of the Apocalypse, but characters need not have participated in that adventure to play this one.

This adventure was officially released at the Queen City Conquest gaming convention in Buffalo, NY, on September 8, 2017.

Delusions of Grandeur, Dreams of Revenge:

In Part 1, the characters meet with representatives of the major factions in Mulmaster. The party is introduced to Boddynock Glitterstone, a svirfneblin bounty hunter. At the meeting, it is revealed that the remnants of five dangerous cults (one associated with each of the Elemental Evil cults, as well the Cult of the Dragon) have joined together and are planning something big.
.
Part 2: While traveling to the Cult’s hideout, the party is attacked by a group of elementals. Later, they will have to deal with an adult black dragon guarding the hideout entrance. Sadly, no maps are included for either combat.

Part 3: Inside the hideout, the players must make their way through the twisting passages, possibly encountering ogres, flumphs, and fungi along the way. The party’s reactions to some of these creatures may help or hinder them as they can tell the payers which rooms to avoid.

I have played this adventure and my character earned a Shan’s Troubleshooter award but I don't quite understand what the "Community Service downtime activity" means. Can you please help me with it (for I couldn't find any information about it in Player's handbook or google)
Will be really grateful!

The Community Service Downtime Activity is described in the AL product "City Guide: Mulmaster", available here: http://www.dmsguild.com/product/202483/City-Guide-Mulmaster

I've played this adventure, and I found it to be a decent challenge for a tier 2 party. Unfortunately, it's written for tier 3. Cult masters, veterans, and elementals are just not a challenge at tier 3. There's only one fight in here that's interesting, and it's not even the last fight.

Beyond combat, the adventure is just a small, mostly-linear dungeon crawl with a few minor social encounters and not much complexity. The story award is interesting, but otherwise there's nothing in this adventure that stands out, at least in a good way.

Question on the story award which allows access to a benefit subject to downtime being spent. Is the intent that this benefit is repeatable, subject to the downtime being spent each time? Also, it refers to the items affected being 1/day. Does that mean that after the initial 10 downtime which it takes to travel (presumably), you spend 1 day per item you want to recharge?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for getting the adventure; I hope you and your players enjoy it!
First question: yes, it is repeatable, as are the use of most story awards, unless they say something like "single use only" or "remove this story award once used".
Second question: yes, recharge time is in addition to the travel time required to use the award.
Hope this helps!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
