Hunted!

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The people of Northwood’s Rest need help. Winter is coming, and something’s been slaughtering the livestock. Surely it must be the orcs of the Northwood! Heroes are needed to hunt them down. Will you answer the call?

Welcome to Hunted! The latest adventure from the critically acclaimed platinum best-selling author Tony Petrecca. Hey, that’s me… and I’ll stop with the 3rd person talk now.

My last release, Killer Kobolds, was all about unadulterated, non-stop run and gun action, and quite purposefully contained absolutely no moral quandaries. Its theme was simple - Kidnapping Kobolds needed killing… now go! The result was an absolute blast, but with Hunted! I wanted to explore notably different themes.  With Hunted! Exploration, investigation, and role play go hand in hand with unexpected twists and turns to present an adventure I’m quite proud of. Worry not, action hounds, as there’s plenty of combat to be had, but with Hunted! mindless murder hobo’s need not apply.

Set in the frontier town of Northwood's Rest, a simple thorpe on the edge of a forest, Hunted! lends itself to easy insertion into any campaign setting and would make an excellent side quest for Storm King's Thunder. With direct tie ins to Acererak, Hunted! fits naturally within any Tales of the Yawning Portal campaign, slotting in perfectly between The Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan and White Plume Mountain.

Scaled for a party of 4-6 adventurers of levels 5-7, Hunted! can be easily tweaked to accommodate parties of lesser or greater strength. Featuring gorgeous cartography by Ennie award winner Elven Tower Cartography, beautiful art, a bevy of new creatures, new locations, several potential plot twists and a fun new magic item, Hunted! should provide six to ten hours of outstanding Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition adventuring fun. Please check it out!

“Hunted!” ... is a delight to read. Tony has a unique style that combines captivating descriptions, a proper choice of words without sounding pompous, and a bit of humor to lighten the mood. The adventure also has clean and functional layouts, color maps by Elven Tower, and awesome new monsters!"

Goblin Stone

"With this adventure Tony proves that he's no one-trick pony. I absolutely adored Killer Kobolds, and I wondered if this was going to be a similar sort of hack-and-slash romp. It is not. Instead it's a nicely layered investigative adventures with some really fun twists and an awesome finale that I absolutely can't wait to get to the table."

Loot The Room Best of DMs Guild

"Hunted! is a beautiful adventure. Tony makes good use of all three pillars of adventure so all types of players can enjoy it greatly... I highly recommend checking this adventure out."

Something I've just noticed while reviewing materials, getting my maps in a row, reviewing NPC knowledge, etc... The module says MacGregor farm is "just a quarter mile up the road" - now I know the imperial system is weird and all, but when I look at the Regional Map (shown on page 4), it clearly shows the MacGregor farm being about 4.5 miles down the road when you consult the scale bar in the bottom right...

Whoops I just noticed another typo. At the top of page 4, Northwood's Rest is referred to as Northwood's Grove

Also is it just me, or are the distances (and therefore pacing/encounter balance, etc) kinda wonky... the map of the Northwood has a scale showing 4 miles on it. According to the DMG, "In 1 hour, you can move a number of miles equal to your speed divided by 10." So a dwarf in the party means the party covers 2.5 miles per hour. The trail from MacGregor farm to the first destination is roughly 40 miles using that scale... meaning it would take the party 2 days of travel to get there. The adventure is written as if it's meant to take place in a single day though... certainly the combats would be too easy if the adventure were spaced across like 4 days? :/

I just bought this one!
For what I've read it looks and sounds super cool!
I've just been DM and working on storm kings thunder for a few months now.

Small question, I miss the game hooks?
I really have no experience haha

Thanks in advance

We're currently running this adventure on Tuesdays on our twitch channel. As a player, I am loving it so far! As a DM, I can't wait to get a peek behind the screen at all of the details once the adventure is over. :)

Any tips on how to scale this down for some level 1 characters? Introducing some friends to D&D with this campaign and don't want to throw too much at them.

Oh gosh that's honestly a tough one. Scaling down a tier 2 adventure to accommodate 3re-5th level chars might not be too challenging but 1st level characters are so crunchy. One bad die roll, one bad move, and they're done. You could lean heavy into the role play and negotiating aspects of it, but all the combat encounters and the custom monsters would brutalize new characters. Gotta admit, outside of maybe twig blights instead of wortlings, you have me stumped on that one.

Do you have any suggestions for where and when to situate in Storm King's Thunder? PCs have just finished Waterdeep: Dragon Heist and will go to Goldenfields first (4x level 5/6). I was thinking about after that, swapping in Westwood (east of Sword Mts, south of Kheldell) for Northwood. Or vice versa.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
