Ensure your pdf reader is up to date. Is it Acrobat, Reader, or another program?

Hmmm, I don't dislike this, but it feels more like a bard College because of the spells. I almost feel like it would make a better Ki based class with monk like tricks instead of spells (knowing full well that 3/5ths of the Monk options use spell like effects).

I see what you mean about minion based classes being too granular at times, but I still would like to see a pass that eliminated spell casting altogether.

I seen a puppeteer class without spell casting but it isn't as well done as this class.

I can honestly say out of the two puppet classes I have seen recently, yours is awesome. Now I have a couple questions:

As long as damage roll is 1d4 the puppet can use any weapon? If so, can they use range or thrown weapons?

They can wear any armor but only get the 12 + CHA, correct?

Does the puppet gain any immunities example psychic & poison & condition?

Does the puppet attacks are considered magical eventually like the monk?

What is Wizards hand (do you mean Bigbys hand)?

What is the visibility of the strings(are they invisible)?

Those are all excellent questions:

"The puppet does not benefit from holding weapons" means that it gains absolutely zero benefit from holding a weapon. It cannot manipulate a bow or throw a weapon.

Wearing armor would be cosmetic for the puppet, so yes.

No. Since the puppet is more of a targetable weapon than an independent creature conditions don't come into play. If you're affected by a condition then that hinders your ability to manipulate the puppet. Anything more than that felt redundant during testing.

The puppet's attacks are magical at 6th level. The pdf has been updated to reflect this omission.

Yes. I was originally going to post this on DTRPG and to avoid using copyrighted material kept it as wizard's hand. Now that all the hand spells are one spell it's a bit challenging to give a clear, non-TM descriptor.

We leave that up to each DM. There were good arguments made for both. Our rule of thumb ended up being "they're...See more

So the puppet isn't immune to psychic damage? Only reason I'm asking is even objects have immunities, while it might seem redundant but it is important to know. Also I know it says the puppet doesn't have any skills but from what I understand its controlled by the puppeteer, so why restrict the puppeteer from using his/her skills through the puppet. (Fully aware of Puppet Improvement.)

So the puppet stats are the puppeteer's Cha modifier? Example: 5 Cha Modifier = 5 Str score

It isn't. The problem we found with a lot of "minion themed" homebrew was that things became too granular. 5e is an edition that revolves around "roll less, track less" and we wanted to keep that design mentality alive in the Puppeteer. It is and isn't inanimate. It's linked to the puppeteer so we felt that psychic would harm it. Not to throw the 'angry developer' answer but you could absolutely grant it that immunity in your game but we felt it unnecessary.

We compared what the puppet could do to what similar features from other classes can. Summon Steed/Find Familiar don't get skills and Beast Companions only have what they come with out of the box. We felt that it was easier to exclude additional skill proficiencies because they, in effect, grant them to the puppeteer which wouldn't track when compared to other classes. We restricted the use of most skills through the puppet but never explicitly say that, for example, you cannot use your own Performance in place of Stealth (or...See more

OK, sorry but we need to first address Resistance and immunities. Psychic and poison resistances/immunities are examples I was using. What it is immune/resisted to should be in the class since this is a common thing that is tracked in 5e and very important for combat, it is important to know what it is or isn't resisted/immune to and something that should be added. Check out mechanical servant in the Artificer UA class or Dragonborn/Dwarf/Tiefling races. I get you might think this might be unnecessary but this is important.

Beast companion/Companion's Bond: If you're not aware, most players that play with choose the UA version instead of the PHB and you might want to check that out if you haven't.

Arcane Puppet: "Your puppet is not proficient in any saving throws or skills." Meaning even if you use performance skill it has to make a separate roll for its stealth. So common sense means it has no skill in stealth besides the Cha modifier. May I recommend, "Your puppet's attribute...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
