I loved this so much, I've converted this one and the second one into a Fantasy Grounds module (I'm sure there are errors and typos). If you'd like it so you can include it, I'd be more than happy to provide it to you.

Thank you so much James! I have never been on Fantasy Grounds but it sounds like you must have put in a lot of work to do that. Thank you! I'd love to see what you've done (maatcrook at gmail).

Yes, please add a FG mod file if available - one of our DMs is a keen user of FG

I haven't forgotten about those of you waiting for Part 3 Bleeding Gate: Lineage. I'm antsy for it too. I know the Adventurers League folks have a lot on their plate, I'm sure we'll hear back as soon as possible.

I have a give away on my twitter (@MaatCrook)! Reply to my tweet with a pic of you clearly playing Bleeding Gate. The first person to do this gets a copy of Tales from the Yawning Portal.

I am reading through and it mentions on page 8 the Peacesmith Handout in the bleeding gate supplemental pdf. Where can I get the Supplemental PDF? I'm not finding it anywhere.

So is the supplemental suppose to come with the first adventure or is that something that needs to be purchased?

The Supplemental is for all 3 adventures and is not necessary for playing them. It's just some fancy materials (big maps, tokens, handouts, etc). Because I am waiting for feedback and then Adventurers League approval I'm not at a stage where I can answer the rest of your question.

Matt, any update on the supplement? I'm running this on Monday at my FLGS, and was just wondering if it was available and I missed it. BTW - Love the paper fortune teller!

I received feedback after the debut, made a few improvements, and sent it off for approval to upload, last weekend. I have not received heard word yet but will put it on the DMs Guild as soon as I can.

I do not have the final approval yet from Adventurer's League on part 3 so I don't have a definitive date. I'm working for September.

I can tell you, as it is right now, it is designed for tier 2 characters (levels 5-10) and it picks up about a month after Amalgamation (part 2). So running some other adventures between 2 and 3 won't be too jarring and gives time for new characters to collect more xp and level up high enough.

That party strenght table on page 3 is confusing. What does the number in middle column mean?

Ma\'at C August 12, 2017 9:56 pm UTC
CREATOR
The center column corresponds to the APL number you've calculated. For example:
Is the APL less than 4 ("< 4 APL")?
Is the APL equal to 4 ("= 4 APL")?
or
Is the APL greater than 4 ("> 4 APL")?

Here's an example of the whole process:
If your Party Size is 3 (3 characters)
And the APL number you've calculated is 2 (level 1 character + level 2 character + level 3 character = 6. 6/3 characters = 2. The APL number is 2)
Then the top row of the table best describes their Party Strength. That row translates to "A party size of 3 with an APL number less than 4 has a 'Very Weak' party strength."

As you play through the module, each encounter has a table that gives suggestions on how to adjust these encounters to better fit their party strength.

If my instructions or table on page 3 are not clear enough, the same process is described on this Adventurers League document http://media.wizards.com/2016/dnd/downloads/AL_DMG_SKT.pdf...See more

Thanks, Ma'at, but I'm still confused. I am familiar with APL; I use it when running AL adventures.

Page 2 says this is a Tier 1 adventure, for levels 1-4, optimized for five 3rd level characters.
It shouldn't be possible to have an APL of 5 or 6.

6 level 4 characters should be Very strong, but on this table they would be (<6 APL) Average.

Is this just a bunch of typos in the preview pdf? Does this table look the same in the full pdf?

CREATOR
This table and formula are included in all AL modules, even when it's not possible to have a super high APL.

I double checked the table information and instructions for calculating the APL, between Bleeding Gate and the link below.

http://media.wizards.com/2016/dnd/downloads/AL_DMG_SKT.pdf

I didn't find typos but if you find any, please let me know.

Hmm, I think maybe we're not seeing the same thing, because this table looks different from the AL DMG.
Here's what it looks like in the AL DMG. http://i.imgur.com/OQa2Jlr.png
And here's what I see in the preview of this adventure: http://i.imgur.com/aB2d6Rw.png

The difference is, the AL DMG doesn't put a number in the middle column but this adventure does. If if did, it would just be the optimization level of the adventure. (Level 3 in this case, right?) Why does that "APL comparison" number change based on party size? That's not how it works in the AL DMG or in the Season 1 adventures I've been running.

Thank you for catching this and for persisting until I understood. Somehow this slipped past the editing process and somehow I've played/DM'd all this time without realizing I was reading the table wrong.

I've put in the changes for approval and am waiting to hear back if I can upload them.

Thank you again.

You're welcome, Ma'at.
I was beginning to wonder if I was wrong and you had modified the chart to ramp up the difficulty for T2 play, but I don't have the full adventure, so I can't see what the adjustments for strong or very strong look like.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
