Cadaver mansion

ADD TO WISHLIST >

A 2nd to 3rd level adventure, for 3 to 5 players. As you wake up you expect to smell the burnt wood of your campfire and the amber skies of a new day. But instead, you see a grey craggy room, with wall paper peeling off the walls, and a slight eggy smell. This Is not where you set up camp.

You will need the following books to play this adventure:

  • Player's Handbook
  • Dungeon Master's Guide
  • Monster Manual (optional, as there is a zombie statblock in the Player's hand book)

My first time making an adventure for D&D, I would appriciate it if you gave feedback on this adventure, if there are things that could be improved or changed, thank you.

My email is kieranmstocks@gmail.com

Changes:

V1: initial release

V1.1: Changed some of the wording in the document, changed the statblock of the Embered cadaver, add a map, and items to be found within the other rooms of the mansion, as it seemed to be lacking, and made the mithril rods drop for each group of enemies.

V1.2:

  • Made rooms and objects more interesting with descriptors.
  • Updated the skill checks.
  • Changed the zombies encounter a bit, to make the zombies seem stranger and more supernatural.
  • Added images to help reference to when describing whats inside the book and on the walls of the room of the metal door.
  • Added an item list, with descriptions of what they do and how to use them.
  • Made the glowing yellow liquid less OP.
  • Changed the stats and statblock for the Embered cadaver.
  • Added a glyph statblock.
  • Zombies can't be abused for materials or xp.
  • Made way out more clear than before with reference to the book and skill checks.
  • There is now a reason for the players to explore the manasion (YAY!).
  • Changed the requierments for the first and the subsequent encounters.
  • Changed the fonts for the titles.
  • Added credits & legal stuff.
  • Added DMs notes at the begining, recomending settings and areas to use the adventure and creature.

V 1.2.1

  • Corrected a few spelling mistakes

Hey on page 3 where it talks about the metal door which requires rods, it states:
"With a DC 15 insight or arcana check it is figured that the door is enchanted to repulse any metal rod that isn’t made of mithral. With a DC 5 investigation check of the wall around the door"

What is the DC 5 check about? The paragraph ends and the next talks about the basement.

There are still issues with this adventure, and until such time as an independent editor goes through it, the issues will continue.

Actually I have a heap of feedback on this ... a lot more than you'd like to see printed here.

I intended it to be free, I didn't know I could just type 0 for the price, I thought there was a tick box for that, or something. And thank you for the email, I'm reading through it thoroughly. I will probably add the updated file tomorrow or Thursday.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
