The reason for altering the class is dissatisfaction with the way the features are played out and the frustration in playing the class. These are the reasons why we made certain changes. The reasons for the changes are as follows:
  1. As per the PHB, "...it’s unusual to find a sorcerer who is not involved in the adventuring life in some way.” “Sorcerers often have …. motivations driving them to adventure.” They are explorers who seek adventure and to learn how to control their powers (Not wizards who study behind a desk). They would learn how to use some weapons and armor to defend themselves. Therefore, we gave the sorcerer proficiency in light armor, simple weapons, light crossbows, and short swords.

  2. The number of spells known was increased. They rely on spells, unlike 3rd casters who almost have similar number of spells and use their magic to compliment their main abilities. A flat number increase in number of spells was chosen with origin bonus origin spells offered as optional choices much as the way Warlock bonus spells are offered. Archetype bonus spells work well with casters who already have large number of spells known and who can change spells after a rest. But a class with few spells and the inability to change them would still cause frustration since a player most likely will not get to have the spells he or she envisions for their character.

  3. Sorcery Points (SP) are usable for Metamagic and Origin features only. The demand of SP was too high - Metamagic, Spell Slots recovery, and Origin features. Economics 101, supply and demand; the current economic format would cause the economy to fail/collapse. To compensate for the change, a feature to regain SP after a short rest was created, discusse in part 4.

  4. The next target was regaining SP after a short rest. Restoring the number based on Charisma modifier would have been an easy dip for players. A base numbre was chosen plus adding a bonus based on the Sorcerer level achieved.

  5. Instead of spell slots, the optional spell point system found in the DMG was chosen. This created a different spell caster compared to the others. Additionally, to further differentiate this Spell Point system from another class who may choose this option, the Sorcerer gets a feature called Sorcerous Arcanum at 19th and 20th level. This gives the sorcerer the ability to create an additional 6th and 7th level spell slot, respectively.

  6. Metamagics were placed into its own column, similar to the Warlocks Invocations. The frequency and number of attaining metamagics was increased (We created more Metamagic options - 16 total). This allows more variations between Sorcerers as well as other uses for Metamagic. Much like a Warlock's Invocations, the increase in metamagics known helps create a more unique character as currently most would choose the same ones.

This product offers 2 new Origins plus changes to 3 current Origins.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
