About the Document:

Public Brainstorming Notebook

As a content creator, I find myself with a gazillion little ideas floating through my head. Way too many to be placed individually into their own place. I have the need to compile everything into a single document so I can share with others and gain feedback from. This magazine format serves this purpose since as I continue compiling all of my notes, your comments will help me refine what I already have.

This forum has already proved useful with my original campaign world, Æthercoil, which is available in DriveThruRPG. I later felt the need to do the same with my variant of the Forgotten Realms, especially with the tweaks I made with the campaigns. This magazine, made for the Dungeon Masters Guild, is the result.

Foxfire Forgotten Realms

This is the result of two things: One, the invitation from the people who made the Forgotten Realms to "Make the Realms your own," and the desire to hack the campaigns published by Wizards of the Coast to keep the players from reading along as they play. Nothing like a DM-made tweak to keep a campaign fresh, right?

This Public Brainstorming Notebook focuses on the tweaks I make to the Realms. I start with a compilation of Chapter 3 of Storm King's Thunder, organizing it in a '4-D Spreadsheet' system made popular by Richard "Lord British" Garriott, and then work from there with the campaigns I design for it. As things are added, they will be compiled in a Microsoft One Note ONEPKG file that you can download and use.

Trigger Warning

While this periodical is not intended to be political or graphic, there are some parts in my campaign and worldbuilding that are inspired by current events. Because of this, there may be some content in here that might trigger the easily triggered. If you're one of them, do us all a favor and refrain from downloading this file. Thank you and God Bless.

Document Contents

This ZIP file contains two files: FoxFireRea.onepkg, a file that you can import into your Microsoft One Note program which contains all of the content of the Foxfire Forgotten Realms issues so far, and FoxFireReaOver.jpg, a map of the Savage North region with markings of what I've expanded on with the magazine

This Zip file will be continually updated with each issue of Foxfire Forgotten Realms, which is available at This Link

About the Author:

David Foxfire has been playing—and Dungeon Mastering—in D&D 5th Edition since it’s playtest, and is using the system to create his own homemade campaigns and even his own Campaign Setting known as Æthercoil.  Before that time, he has been doing webcomics and illustration, of which his art style will become part of these submissions to this site.

Comments:

The Public Brainstorming Notebook has been a useful and successful tool in my campaign and world development over at DriveThruRPG and I seek to continue its use here as it fills my Forgotten Realms needs. As the campaigns develop here, I'll see to converting them into my homemade Æthercoil world, as I port the parts of the adventures I can file the proverbial serial numbers off from into an original setting.

The real success of this periodical comes from feedback, and you can contact me through messages here in the Dungeon Masters Guild as well as my website at foxfirestudios.net. Thank you in advance for your feedback and I look forward to hearing from you.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
