The axe feels so heavy, arms so tired. She just can't lift it anymore. They're coming for her; she hears their boots on the tile. There's blood all over her - blood...
But blood is good! Blood is a sign - a sign that the great work is not finished.
With a cackle straight from the pits of the nine hells, she drags herself back to her feet.

"Just give up - or we'll kill you," the first dead man says.
"Me?" she asks, her voice a broken hiss. "You can't kill me. You're already a corpse!" She roars as she flings herself across the broken marble pillar. Her fist cracks into the man's knee, driving it back the wrong direction. Her axe screeches on metal armor as it cleaves the next body in half.
The great work... is never finished.

Features

Drop The Die Logo

True Power: Sometimes... you want to be the most feared character at the table. Dozens of hours have went into testing the features of this Barbarian Path to ensure it is both powerful and balanced with the other published paths. Designed for a thematic and terrifying presence, the Leveler is designed for intense and shocking moments of brutality when the chips are down.

Interesting Design: Some barbarian paths fall a little flat - putting too many eggs in too many baskets. The Leveler has many wonderful options for players to choose from, but never forgets its roots - face to face combat, sometimes weilding the face as a weapon. The Leveler can be played (and was play-tested to verify) quite well with or without a weapon - allowing for a more "hands on" approach to violence.

High Numbers - Balanced Outcomes: In general, the Path of the Leveler will play like a standard barbarian until a very special set of circumstances arise in combat - at which point the dice, numbers, and horribly gritty details should skyrocket. Just when the rest of the party is wearing thin, the Path of the Leveler really shines. Luckily, it works perfectly with nearly every other class - allowing for great synergy and options to make these Barbarians a Hazard on the battlefield.

Dramatic Risks and Rewards: True rage is... dangerous for everyone to behold - not just ones enemies. The Path of the Levler is quite a danger to hapless companions as well. Giving the entire combat encounter a more dynamic and interesting feel - and roleplay after an "accident" a new level of drama.

Inspired by Joe Abercrombie's award winning book series: The First Law, and the character Logen Ninefingers.

Hey so the final ability on this path maximizes damage to incapacitated creatures. I may be wrong but doesn't this just cause failed death saves and the damage doesn't mater? If so I'm not sure its worth the psy damage, the prone foe part dose work and sounds cool.

Hey Jeffrey. Sorry i didn't see this in so long (lotta stuff going on). Path of the Leveler is 4 years old now and, much like everything I wrote back then, It's DRIPPING with stuff I'd change today.

I may even re-release it now that you bring it up. So keep an eye out. <3

BUT to answer your question, Jeffrey - a paralyzed creature is incapacitated (as with Hold Person/Hold Creature for instance) as well as a stunned creature (power word stun, etc) and a sleeping creature.

So if you hit someone who is helpless - it deals MASSIVE damage at the cost of your own mental well being and exhaustion. Like the adrenaline rush that causes people to lift cars or divert boulders - after you do it, some of your muscles may even be pulled free. This is meant to mirror that and the emotional turmoil of brutalizing a helpless person.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
