The Summoner (5e Class)

Hello Everyone, This is my first official upload to the DM's Guild Site and I will admit I am a little nervous over publishing this after the last four months worth of researching I've done in making this class. My main motivation for making this summoner class is that I enjoyed the concept of a wizard that spurned the traditional laws and schooling when it came to conjuration and delved into deeper magics on their own. But unfortunately the previous homebrews that I have found always seemed to overpowered to me on serveral instances and it motivated me to create my own and continue to improve upon it. So I hope you all enjoy it and the little Bio below!

Rage against your enemies by bringing forth a creature that you have forged a connection with: The eidolon. Fight as a team using both yourself and your partner with a variety of combinations and evolutions that can be suited to your needs.

Included into this class are 3 custom tailored subclasses for different styles of play and a short monster list that adds four homebrewed monsters to the list of creature you can choose from. Additionally, the fourth sublass, Bond of the Symbiote has finally been released and is being sold separately.

Version 2.2 Update Notes! - After a few weeks of careful review and suggestions, here is the latest update! The biggest changes being the increase of the maxium hit points for your summoned creature, adding and removing several spells from the spell list, and finally adding in a multiclass option.

1.) Changed the Eidolon's Avatar hit point maximum caculation to 6 x Summoner Level + Con modifier to increase the summoned creature's survivability in combat. Total hit point maximum should come to about 120-125 without evolutions and archetypes.

2.) Changed the maximum challenge rating in the Eidolon's Avatar to just be at 3 due to there not being an actual reason to add your proficiency bonus for what creature you choose.

3.) Added in a multiclassing table at the end of the Apex Predator subclass.

4.) Corrected some more grammar mistakes, and added details on increasing the DC of some evolutions when increasing their corresponding ability score.

5.) Added in the spells Chaos Bolt, Firebolt, Summon Greater Demon, Summon Lesser Demon, Thunderclap, and Thunder Step to the Summoner Spell List. Additionally, I removed spells Control Flames, Giant Insect, Light, Mending, and Protection from Energy from the list.

As of today, this should be the last full update for this product for most of this year unless someone is able to notice something very discernable or they have an issue they feel the need to address. Please comment or review!

I'm a huge fan of the Summoner Concept in general, and I love how you brought it life in 5e. One of my players is currently playing the Synthesist and he loves it. I would love to see more evolution options added in the future, but that's just me. Stil [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
