Basic Information:
This PDF-file contains the sixth pre-generated character sheet you need to run the Lost Mine of Phandelver Starter Set adventure with up to six players. The sheet uses the same style and includes the same information as the five other character sheets already included in the Starter Set. This allows any DM to play the Starter Set with up to six people without any hassle from using different sheets, or just to give new players one more option to choose from at the start of their first adventure.

Character Creation:
The Character is a level 1 Wood Elf Ranger as taken from the free official Wizard of the Coast’s Pregen level 1 Wood Elf Ranger but updated for the revised Ranger and with added background and character level up information. Therefore this version of the Ranger is NOT compatible with the Ranger class as described in the Player’s Handbook from 2014! The Free 'Unearthed Arcana Revised Ranger' PDF from 2016 is available on the official dnd.wizards.com website. The ranger was primarily revised because it is objectively the weakest class in the core rules by a significant margin.

Additional Notes:
From the 2nd level onwards the Ranger class gets access to a limited number of spells, however, most Ranger spells are not included in the basic rules (from the Starter Set). Ranger spells that are included in the basic rules are: Cure Wounds (1st level); Detect Magic (1st level); Lesser Restoration (2nd level); and Silence (2nd level). See also the ‘Elemental Evil Player’s Companion’ available online for two more 1st level Ranger spells. Lastly, consider printing the character on somewhat thicker paper, the sheet should be almost indistinguishable from the originals.

The character's background has several problems: First, the town name is "Phandelin," not "Phandelver." Second, none of the other characters are already members of a faction. This ranger may be a good *candidate* for the Emerald Enclave, but he/she shouldn't already be a member. Third, the adventure hook doesn't do much to draw the character into the adventure. He wants to go to Phandelin; great! (Though what he was doing in Neverwinter in the first place is a question here.) But the other characters' goals actually make them want to advance the plot in some way; visit Thundertree, for instance, or confront the Redbrands. How does this character want to advance the plot of the adventure? I can roll up a Ranger as easily as anyone; what I was paying for is careful thought into the Background information.

Jim S. thank you very much for your honest critique. After running the campaign myself for the second time I have come across your points and some other small inconsistencies and errors as well. As the result of that, I have just released V6 for everyone to download. This version will hopefully resolve most issues you’ve had with the old version. The new background section e.g. should give the character an unique incentive to advance the plot of the adventure. Please let me know if you still have other suggestions.

What's the difference between the a and b versions? I can't find one.

There is no difference in contents between all V6 versions. I was only experimenting with different PDF publishing formats.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
