Ever feel the need to get revenge on Rock Baboons?

Now's you're chance. Wanna know why you should make beer runs? Why are beardless dwarfs all the rage? You can learn it all here in X3 Curse of Xanathon.

When the grotesque god Cretia casts his ugly shadow over the town, strange things start happening. First, Duke Stephen vanishes. Then bizarre proclamations begin coming out the Ducal Palace - dwarves are outlawed, taxes must be paid in beer, horses must be ridden backwards. Soon the entire town is in an uproar, and a dwarven army is marching on Rhoona. This is the situation when you and your party of valiant adventurers arrive in the suffering town.

This conversion guide allows DMs to run the original module with 5th Edition rules and provides a reference sheet for encounters.

To use this conversion guide you will need a copy of "X3 Curse of Xanathon", originally available in hard-copy and now for sale in Digital format at DMsGuild.com.

"Classic Modules Today: B4 The Lost City" contains the OpenOffice/LibreOffice source files used to create this PDF. Visit Classicmodulestoday.com for instructions on creating your own classic module conversions and selling them on the DMs Guild.

Honestly this was the first conversion I did of an older adventure, and the instructions I was given was to go with a straight up conversion. As you will notice, Xanathon is a 14th level cleric, with only 5th level spells as these were the highest level spells available in the Expert set of D&D at the time.

At the time of conversion, I did a copy paste of the spells and forgot to update the spells for Xanathon.

With that being said, I'm going to rework the named NPCs from the adventure to bring them more in line with 5e rules, For instance, Xanathon should have access to 7th level spells. Give me a day or so, and I'll do a major update.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
