Subrace Compendium

Suggested Price $1.95

NOTE: this contribution is now obsolete, as a new, better version of it has been included in my Multiversatility – Player’s Options Pack.

From the ashes of two of my first Guild works here comes the Subrace Compendium, a collection of variants and options for the most common of D&D nonhuman races (dwarf, elf, halfling, and orc), ranging from the unusual to the mundane and yet undistinguished by rules – till now.

The Subrace Compenium, as shown by the preview, is completely illustrated with modern and traditional art, and there is at least one color picture for every introduced subrace! And, as an RPG is made of something more than mere rules, for every race variant you will find an exhaustive but easily adaptable description of its origins, features, and culture, as well as a few suggestions to both players and Dungeon Masters to best employ it in their games.

Overall, the Subrace Compenium introduces 16 variant subraces, greatly expanding from my previous elf and dwarf works, including:

Corrupted, cannibalistic halflings that are perhaps adventuring in search of their precious!

Steampunk clockworked dwarves, capable (through a feat) to literally shut up and jump-start themselves!

Civilized, Gruumsh’s bigotry-free orcs, that have finally developed empathy without losing their edge in combat!

Sadistic melnib elf villains that deal in drugs and slavery, a race so vile that, in comparison, drow priestesses are a bunch of sissies – pun intended!

Flying and deep-sea delving elves, for the game could be named Dungeons and Dragons, but if there are no elves there is no pointed ear in exploring a ruin!

Degenerated Cthulhu-worshipping dwarves!

And much more!

As happens with all my bundles, the Subrace Compendium will be eventually expanded as new ideas come to my mind and have a chance to be playtested. As for now, you get a bunch of subraces for less than a tenth of a dollar each, but more are certainly coming.

PS: if you find this introduction, and the free previews, engaging, please rate and review my work! Even if you don’t like it, let me know what you would adjust and how: I’ld be very grateful to anyone that helps me improve my works!

A great variety of subraces with very welcome "Include this in your camapaign if ..." sections. The pdf has a bit of a stale presentation with blank pages and squarely placed art. A table of contents would have been wonderful. [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
