CCC-SALT-01-03 Broken Halls of Goldahroud

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Beneath the moorlands of Thar, hidden from all for centuries, lies the Broken Halls of Goldahroud. It seems to have been inhabited until recently as the blood marks on the walls are only a few weeks old. What mysteries lie beyond the doorway from the Tomb of Kered? Fear of the markings have forced the SALT Consortium to turn again to hiring adventurers to face what horrors await them in the Broken Halls of Goldahroud

Note:  This adventure allows the DM more choice is adventure layout.  It is best read and choices selected prior to running the adventure.   With the right selections, this adventure can easily be deadly to even the most advanced tier 1 parties.

A Four-Hour Adventure for 1st-4th level characters

Optimized for five 2nd level characters

Written for and premiered at SALTcon 2017 in Layton, UT.  SaltCON is the largest Board Game Convention in Utah held annually in Layton at the Davis Conference Center with the "aim of bringing people together with games.

I have now read and prepared most of this module, and left with some questions. Apart from the very loose connection to the previous module by finding a secret door in the tomb, it also seems a bit "loose-ended".
I agree with the reviews on the lack of information on some parts, particularly towards the end. How have other DMs solved this, to explain who Maha is and what she is doing there? And where she is going?

The end seems very confusing to me, and like it misses some part or explanation either before or after. Also, the suggested map doesn't really fit some of the encounter descriptions (excersize room is described bigger than any room on the map).

Now this is the second best of the three, but what makes this better then the other two is that this is 4 hour mod that can take you down many roads. There is a lot of random places that you can go to which is what is both its greatest upside and greatest downside. This is something that the DM should pick a head of time of what encounters you want to run since unless you have a lot of time, this might run a little long. And when I did this mod we where a very strong party since my Bladesinger had a Wand of Lightingbolts (Rare and I traded my Staff of Charming for it from a Tier 1 mod that gave it out before you ask), and yes I was wrecking them, but for everyone else, it was a tough fight since a lot of things in here are resistance to non magic attacks which is tough for Tier 1 characters to do anything about. But still, there is a lot of things in this mod that I liked and I am glad my character did what he did and got what he got. There was a lot of good RP at times.

The adventure is OK, but the story read-as-written (R.A.W.) ends not only with a cliffhanger as it says "stairs deeper into the dungeon", but it also ends with a chase scene, and as all DMs know, no enemies survive chase scenes!

You'll need to re-craft the story to make it more coherent.

Thanks, this series will actually receive an update mid to late July, based on feedback from conventions. Making them more coherent is one of the goals, we will also be dropping some clearer hints on the next set of these.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
