Hey Rob, just a quick question for you. I've dropped the files (class/spell/race/and feat codings) into the modules folder but when I get into the game, they don't show up in the library anywhere for me to activate. Just purchased/downloaded today so I know they're the up to date versions. Any assistance you can provide is appreciated so I can start enjoying these.

You may disregard this. I had to delete everything and re-download it, but it's working now.

Does this include codes for a Druid taking different forms in Wildshape? If not how do you go about writing something to change your stats and traits?

Customer avatar
Rob T May 11, 2018 1:57 am UTC
CREATOR
When a druid takes wild shape there can be many forms, so that's usually handled by the NPC stat block the DM assigns to the player.

Hi Rob, I'm having a bit of trouble understanding how the fighting style: great weapon fighting works
It says it is encoded in a particular weapon and I'm unsure how to get that :/
Customer avatar
Rob T September 15, 2017 10:55 am UTC
CREATOR
Ahmed, Great Weapon Fighting is actually coded in the weapon ITSELF on your actions tab in the weapon properties. You would put REROLL 2 in the place where you would put say, for example, silver or magic. It's not done in the Combat Tracker, but WITHIN the weapon itself. See here under "Creating a Weapon" http://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/5E_Character_Sheet

Hey Rob. I'm having a problem. When I drag a class power from your mod character actions tab onto my character's action tab it creates it as a spell instead of a power. I'm having the same problem with your racial traits mod. Specifically, it's the Wizard Arcane Recovery and Portent abilities and the Gnome Cunning racial ability. The Gnome Cunning will still work as a spell though I would rather it show as a power like in your mod. But the Arcane Recovery and Portent abilities as spells don't provide the tick mark for tracking uses.

Am I doing something wrong?

Glen:

You're doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong. That's just how Fantasy Grounds works. The fix is to change the group to what you want after you drag it over. For example, for POWERS, just remove the word "spells", and it will automatically recategorize it to POWERS. If you want a specific category, just change the word "spells" to whatever you want, and it will relist it for you. Again, this is just a function of the software, no real way around this (that I have found).

But won't that mean I have to recreate all my existing spells? Since they'll become powers also?
Customer avatar
Rob T June 15, 2017 12:51 am UTC
CREATOR
No, the default is spells, so everything you drag over should be a spell (which is the majority of what you'll use.

Hey, Glen. Just saw this comment and your review which mentions the same concern. Now, I know its still not ideal, but I just wanted to clarify how fantasy grounds works for you and any others who might read this as well.

While it is true that when you drag over a power/ability (let's use Bardic Inspiration as an example) from Rob's module onto the actions tab of a character (we will say a level 4 Bard for sake of example), it will put that power into the "Spells" section of the action tab (specifically in the Spells (Cantrips) section). However, if you look at the Bardic Inspiration power now on the action tab, at the cell directly to the right of the words "Bardic Inspiration", where it says "Spells", if you change "Spells" to "Bardic Powers" or whatever you want the group to say and, once you have typed in the words "Bardic Powers", left click anywhere else within the actions tab and you will see that a new grouping is created for...See more

Where do you put the xml files? It doesnt say anywhere that I can see. I know the .mod files goes in the modules folder. Also, the modules arent showing up in the module list when I load up FG
Customer avatar
Rob T June 06, 2017 11:35 pm UTC

James, you can put the XMLs in any directory. It doesn't matter. As long as YOU know where they are so you can import them. I put mine in the "characters" folder since they are in effect, characters.

nevermind, I figured it out; but I think you should include some .txt file or something for people who have no idea how to use the files. I knew about the .mod files, but wasnt sure where to put the xml, put them in the character folder since you import them as characters, but a .txt with a little guidance would do wonders, methinks.

thanks for any help
Customer avatar
Rob T October 08, 2017 12:08 pm UTC
CREATOR
You need to make sure you have the LATEST version. And you don't place the .mod file in the "character" folder, you place it in the "modules" folder. Then when you open it in the library, all the coding will be available in the spells list.

Rob, nice product but I am confused. the Paladins Divine Sense is 1+ CHA Mod and it is only giving 2 uses on characters created. Thoughts?
Customer avatar
Rob T May 07, 2017 6:08 am UTC
CREATOR
Ah. Frank, since Fantasy Grounds doesn't calculate that, it's a manual counter. And there are MANY more "counters" besides that one Paladin feature where the individual player would set that amount themselves by making sure that MODE (bottom left of PC sheet) is set to "Preparation" and then changing the number (2 in the case) to whatever meets the need (1+ whatever that player's CHA MOD is in your example). Hope that clears that up. Again, this is a manual counter designed to help the player keep track of uses. Enjoy!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
