{WH} Vampire Prestige Class! Build your own creature of darkness in 5 class levels.

Suggested Price $1.00

Children of darkness and dread magic, sired by ancient evil. Night-borne parasites feasting on the lifeblood of pitiable mortals. Tragic protagonists, their every moment tempted and tortured by a dark and antediluvian curse.

Found across a limitless number of worlds and settings, vampires are known to most either as a malign fable which warns of the dangers of the night, or as a terrifying and monstrous reality, skulking in every shadow and stalking the living with unending hunger.

Through a thirst for power or a particularly unfortunate twist of fate, your players may be able contract the eternal curse of vampirism, and unlock its sinister potential.

Will they embrace the monster that they have become?

Will they fight tirelessly and fruitlessly for redemption?

Or will they strive to find their own way, hiding their bestial nature and evading those that would cleanse them from the land?

The Vampire Prestige Class character option grants your players access to 5 levels of vampiric power, allowing them to delve into the secrets and dark blessings of their midnight curse while still progressing in other character classes. Utilizing the rules set forth in the “Prestige Classes and Rune Magic” Unearthed Arcana article, this prestige class seeks to emulate the abilities granted by the curse of vampirism without usurping either a character’s class or race. Your character may be a vampire, but a vampire is not all that your character is.

Is there any restriction no number of uses of Mist Form? Both the Bat and Wolf specifically state this.

I like this class, It might work great as a logical goal of my Dhampir Wizard whose the subschool Necromancer. I mean, why not fully awaken and embrace that side of themselves?

This is a well thought out and balance build. It will work with pretty much any class and gives you lots of interesting abilities as well as traditional weaknesses of the vampire and game mechanics to keep t from being OP. Looking forward to play testing it soon but based on this product Im certainly goning to purchase more from this developer.

Nearly a year later, I actually have no idea what tf I was saying with that original comment. Did I post it on the wrong item? Was I half asleep?

Regardless, this is an amazing class, well balanced and interesting. The flavour rivals nearly anything else I've seen, and I've long ago decided to add it to Curse of Strahd, as well as changing one of the Dark Gifts of The Amber Temple to this. I mention this to anyone who brings up playing a vampire, and it really deserves both a read and a purchase.

I just recently purchased a pdf of your work on DM's Guild, and I must say that this prestige class is on point! I have a question though: Isn't this prestige class a bit of a glass cannon? How does this vampire go about healing himself on long, arduous situations? It seems that feeding doesn't actually heal the vampire-- only give temp HP that, by RAW, doesn't stack with future temp HP. Being an undead character, cure wounds and other similar spells don't work on the vampire. I really want to play this character, but it feels weird that I wouldn't be able to heal my character at all besides resting and perhaps a Regeneration or Wish spell (both are EXTREMELY high level spells, something a 5th-10th level character couldn't cast). Am I being wimpy and not understanding that there's HEAVY drawbacks to this class? Is there something I'm skipping over while reading? Any help would be most appreciated!

Thanks,
Derek/greyseraph

Hey there, thanks for writing!

You're correct in assuming it's supposed to be hard for the vampire to heal traditionally through magic. The undead creature type, applied to player characters, does come with some serious drawbacks.

However, healing through rests still applies normally, and the temporary hit points aspect of your XXX attack is intended to take the edge off being in melee combat. It can be glass cannon-y, but with a required CON score of at least 13, the ability to gain tHP with every melee attack, and occasional abilities like Undead Fortitude and Mist Form to decrease the hits and damage you'll be taking, I feel like it evens out about the best I can expect.

EDIT: It's completely insane that the word "b.i.t.e" is censored and replaced with "XXX" for some reason. O_o

Hi man, in "preparing and casting" spell section you should add the phrase "you always have it prepared, and it doesn't count against the number of spells you can prepare each day." (like said the PHB in the section of a cleric for example).
If you don't add that simple phrase it means that you have the spell of the vampire "automatically" prepared, but they are count as part of the total number of spell that you can prepare!

"Veil of Shadow" blessing: you can attack or cast a spell without break invisibility?

In any case good job for this fantastic update! =)

Hi there! Thanks for the great feedback.

For the spells, I'd replace the bit about "automatically" preparing spells with "Any spell on the Vampire spell list available to your level is always considered to be prepared, and does not count against the number of spells you can prepare each day." It seems overall more clear and comprehensive.

Good catch with Veil of Shadow as well, the intent is for it to break on attacks and spells. Don't know how that was omitted, but it'll be added in short order.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
