The amount and variety of elementals in the monster manual is somewhat lacking. I intend to rectify that with this supplement, which creates a variety of new elementals to be utilized in any number of adventures. This supplement contains the creatures from my Paraelementals product, as well as a slew of unique creatures, both adaptations from previous editions and original creations.

Paraelementals to match the standard four elementals

  • Dust Elemental (CR 5): a whirling cloud of dust that lives in deserts and other arid climates

  • Ice Elemental (CR 5): A hulking being of frigid cold that can pass through snow and ice effortlessly

  • Lightning Elemental (CR 5): a crackling ball of living lightning that can only move in bursts

  • Magma Elemental (CR 5): an oozing pile of molten stone that hates cold and loves lava flows

  • Ooze Elemental (CR 5): a slimy mound of sludge with a disease ridden variant option

  • Smoke Elemental (CR 5): a billowing creature of toxic fumes that acts like the stinking cloud spell and is invisible in smoke

  • Steam Elemental (CR 5): a sizzling cloud of superheated wator vapor that is invisible in steam. Comes with a Mist variant that deals cold damage

Mephits based on the introduction of positive and negative energy to the elements

  • Acid Mephit (CR 1/4): based on the forms of acid used in alchemy, these mephits are crass an xenophobic

  • Ash Mephit (CR 1/4): perpetually depressed creatures of living soot

  • Lightning Mephit (CR 1/4): also known as thunder bats, these mephits are a pest in cloud giant homes

  • Mercury Mephit (CR 1/4): based on the element representing the thinking spirit in alchemy, mercury mephits possess a breath that poisons the mind, weakening its defenses

  • Salt Mephit (CR 1/4): based on the element representing the material body in alchemy, salt mephits either love or hate water, and either seek to destroy or steal it

  • Sulfur Mephit (CR 1/4): based on the element representing the living soul in alchemy, sulphur mephits are stinking creatures that crave all heat for themselves

Grymtouched elementals, suffused with the power of undeath

  • Breathdrinker (CR 6): air elementals that consume the breath of the living, giving targets levels of exhaustion until they perish

  • Crimson Death (CR 6): water elementals that consume the blood of the living

  • Effigy (CR 6): fire elementals that possess the bodies of the living, burning them from within with its hate and fury

  • Gravecrawler (CR 6): earth elementals that turn flesh to stone and consume the memories of the dead

A few miscellaneous elementals:

  • Bijou (CR 0): a beetle made of living gemstones that can be used as spell components

Options for golems, including a new golem that can act as a familiar and templates to apply to already existing golems

  • Paper Golems (CR 0): origami golems that can be made by infusing folded paper with ki, granting monks a potential familiar

  • Axiomatic Golem Template: A template that can be applied to any golem to represent the effect of being touched by Mechanus

  • Gloomtouched Golem Template: A template that can be applied to any golem to represent one crafted from materials found on the Shadowfell, wielding despair like a hammer

  • Holy Golem Template: A template that can be applied to any golem to represent one crafted from materials found in the Upper Planes, a construct designed to root out evil at its source and bring light to dark places

  • Profane Golem Template: A template that can be applied to any golem to represent one crafted from materials found in the Lower Planes, creating a horrifying monster that spreads terror and empowers wicked creatures

  • Wyldehand Golem Template: A template that can be applied to any golem to represent one crafted from materials saturated with chaotic energy. This template is mostly intended to add a little fun and unexpected variety to combat, as it creates randomness by virtue of its existence

A guide on simple ways to adjust already existing monsters to serve as improvised elemental creatures, as well as a few examples.

A wondrous item detailing the creation of an elemental myrmidon

v02 – improved the formatting. Added table of contents. Adjusted grymtouched elementals

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
