Dragon's Breath Tavern - Adventure

ADD TO WISHLIST >

"Once the action kicks off, the adventurers are in for a rough night."

"A perfect mix of horror and fantasy, with some truly unexpected encounters!"

It’s been a long few days of travel and the adventurers are tired of eating rations and sleeping on the ground.  The road opens to a small town with an inviting tavern.  The smells of grilling meat and ale fill their nostrils and the sounds of laughter and music float out the tavern’s door.  Unlucky for the adventurers, they’ve stumbled upon Dragon’s Breath Tavern.

What starts out as a pleasant evening of food, drink, and entertainment soon evolves into an adventure that takes the party into and under Dragon’s Breath Tavern.  The adventure includes roleplay, exploration, combat, and a dice game called Demon Dice.

Although written in a non-specific location, this adventure could be run as a one-shot during the WoTC official campaign – Curse of Strahd.

The adventure includes an isometric map and a top-down map of Dragon’s Breath Tavern.

Dragon’s Breath Tavern is a 3 to 5-hour adventure for a party of four to five characters of levels 3rd to 5th.

Includes a Printer-Friendly version at checkout.

How many wait staff are contemplated? And how did Cullen and Sveta end up in the lower levels?

You can use as many wait staff as you feel necessary, adding or removing to fit your needs, but I believe the number creatures is mentioned in the text. Cullen and Sveta were dragged to the lower levels during the evening. I don't want to give too much away in the comments.

Minor error in Appendix A.
It states that the Baron has the shapechanger ability in PHB p.82, it should say MM p82.

Ran this one shot last night for my group and they absolutely loved it!
From start to finish they were hooked! The setup as the party arrives, and then having to explore the tavern and then the added mechanic of the game DEMON DICE...It all worked out really well!

The only thing I changed was rather than have one of the werewolves have the skeleton key on their person, I made it so the door leading to the basement had to be opened by finding the combination numbers in the Barons office. ;)

All in all, I'm glad I purchased this!

I know my players, they are going to want to know how to play Demon Dice. What did you have in mind for game mechanics when your introduced Demon Dice into your game? Thank you.

PS: Had a lot of fun just reading through it and I am looking forward to prepping it for the new gaming group I will be running.

I just purchased this adventure. I hope to run it this weekend. I have 1 question. I see there is a Player's Map at the end. Do you recommend distributing this to them at any time? Thanks in advance.

Found a minor error in the stat blocks on page 22. The Wyrmling's damage is written as 1d110+2 should be 1d10+2.

In the boss fight now. Will post a review once complete. A++ so far.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
