Safehouse: An Urban Side Trek

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The characters are hired to retrieve relics of the ancient Ebondeath Sect from a safehouse maintained by the Cult of the Dragon.  After the events of the Rise of Tiamat, the characters’ employer expect that opposition at the safehouse is limited.  However, he would like the characters to act quickly in case the cult comes looking for the relics.

Safehouse is a side trek adventure for a party of four characters of levels 4-5. The module is based in Waterdeep, but can easily be changed to any large town or city.  The module also includes a subtle (and optional) connection to the White Plume Mountain adventure in the Tales from the Yawning Portal publication.

I recently purchased this as part of the ToYP series that you put together. I love the adventure, and I am prepping to run it as a part of my ToYP campaign. Regarding the maps in the module, do you happen to have anything that is more setup for players rather than DMs? I was looking to load something in for my Roll20 account, and I wanted to try and use something as close to the description as possible without having to create my own. (I stink at making maps).

Hi! I just finished adding this into my Dragonhesit game, it fit great. The stake out/investigation portion is well described and gives some food hints for the info they can find. The final fight is pretty rough, I definitely had to tone down the fireball, but over all it was a great sidequest. My players got really beaten up with Ebonclaws alpha strike, so they instead tricked him into believing they were there to worship him, offering up all of their gold to his hoard. This allowed them to leave, to go get more treasure, and take a short rest, which helped a lot.

The ONLY.... not complaint... but thing worth mentioning, is that there is no reason for the players to even consider giving that sword to the NPC. By the time they finish, they likely havent slept yet, so dont even know its cursed. And even they did, they dont know giving it to someone evil breaks the curse, nor would they seek to curse someone else, or given a powerful item to someone evil (if they did figure that aspect out)....See more

I did not give it a specific location, so you can place it wherever needed.

I can't find any information on where The Crooked Teeth tavern is in Trades Ward. Where did you place this?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
