A massive forest stands in the middle of Faerun. Easily accessible from the Swordcoast and yet.. where is the official sourcebooks for what lays within?

This book is intended for DM's wanting to run adventures within High Forest.  It is the result of quite a bit of research on official WotC supplements so should align pretty closely with other products released for the 5th edition setting.

Included within are:

  • Detailed history of the empires and struggles within the forest
  • Over 60 locations from earlier official publications marked on map with descriptions.
  • Multiple plot hooks provided for each region of the forest
  • Traveling encounters customized for each region
  • 15 new monsters (converted from previous editions)

Contains support information for associated modules M1 The Menace of Merric and M2 Raiders of Reitheillaethor

I think your work is very good and VERY useful BUT I didn't know that I had to own other books to reference the monsters. I ASSUMED (silly me..) that this referenced the CORE mm only BECAUSE I didn't see any warning that I needed to own other books. Unless I am mistaken you may want to mention that in your description. PERHAPS you can suggest CORE MM SUBSTITUTES for those of us who are running without the other volumes (yea, I can do this BUT I did buy your book so I wouldn't HAVE to) I realize there are quite a few. These other books are pricey. Even the PDFs. I wont pay what they are asking for a PDF. I will perhaps get the physical books someday.

BTW...Your maps are OUTSTANDING! Great USABLE detail! Exceptional work.

I see your point, I am an admitted monster junkie so like to have the variety in my random tables.

For anyone wondering, I have creatures from the Kobold Press "Tome of Beasts" book. It's a great resource (as is their Creature Codex).

Thanks on the map compliment. :)

I don't often take time to comment on things. However, this book is amazing. It is so detailed and helpful and just wow! It seems like it's professionally done. Thanks so much for making it and sharing it!

Hi. Great book, with lots of information. Very useful.
Question. Would you have a higher resolution of the maps on page 4 that you could share with us? That would be great!

Thanks!

Hi Stephane, I've uploaded a stand alone JPG of the map. Sorry I didn't get to that sooner, I didn't see your comment until just today. Thanks for the feedback!

Nevermind. I found it. I’m just dumb. Any chance you could add your other maps though? Those would all be super super helpful.

Sure thing! It'll take me a bit to get all the maps up, if there are any that you specifically want let me know and I'll prioritize getting those up first.

Specifically, I am thinking about the faction influences on page 8 and the regions on page 11. I am running a west-marches style game in the high forest so finding this is so wonderful. I'm definitely gonna pay you for this book later since I am so appreciative. I would like the others too, but those are the ones that I really really want.

I put the regions and influence maps up. The only ones I haven't are the village maps, they're purely homebrew and there are way better map drawers on Reddit.

Really cool material... I'm new to the game and this helps me understand the area background much better. Thanks!

Great book, I agree with the review about obvious use of the FR wiki for content leaving a lot of the more recent updates in SKT and SCAG out of this, but certainly that's hardly a stopping point for any DM. The backgrounds are a bit hard to read as they're darker, consider lightening them up.

Hey, thanks so much for the feedback. I'll clean up those background for sure. I thought I'd collected the updated info from SKT and SCAG, if you'd be willing to point out any of the spots you saw as incorrect I'll jump in and fix them. Thanks again!

Excellent work. Taking requests? How about the Marsh of Chelimber and surrounding areas...

Thanks! I'm certainly interested in what areas people would most like to see more info on. Chelimber might be do-able. I was considering doing the High Moor or Greypeak Mountains and could include it in those.

Thanks for the feedback, if you want to help out I'd sure appreciate if you'd review it. It gets tons of downloads but no one seems to add a review of it.

Cheers!

Ok, I'll put up a version without the stationary background and fix the margins to 1/2 inch. Any other changes you recommend for a printer-friendly version?

Thanks for the reminder. I just uploaded a printer friendly version. I didn't have the opportunity to run a test print of it so please let me know if it gives you any problems.

Cheers!

Every time i try to download it, it says the file is corrupted. Is there any
reason for this?

I haven't had anyone else comment they are having troubles with it, I just downloaded it myself to check and it opens ok for me. Maybe downloading a fresh copy of acrobat reader? If you message me an email address to send it to, I'll just email you a copy I've verified works. Sorry you're having troubles with it.

This is one of the best and most useful "factbooks" I have ever come across. I would love to see more of this type, perhaps detailing the Lurkwood or other areas of the Forgotten Realms that haven't gotten much attention. Regardless, this book is amazing and I would highly recommend it for any DM, whether they're running a game in the FR setting or not.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
