Igor's Challenge is a 3-4 hour, non-lethal, funhouse style dungeon.  It is a self-contained adventure that should fit into any campaign or serve as a one-shot adventure for any group.  The adventure can fit a party of any level and size with only minor adjustments.

Igor is an eccentric gnome inventor and retired adventurer renowned around the world.  He has sent out invitations to adventuring groups to come complete for his latest, greatest invention.  The competition will take place a few days hence in the village of Penthill and consist of a race through his specially created challenge-dungeon.

Igor's Challenge includes a unique magic item, a small village with locations and NPCs, an encounter and story with a legendary NPC (stat bloc provided), and a 33 room dungeon of traps, tricks, and puzzles.

Hi! I’m going to play this as a one-shot with three level 1 players who all have never played D&D. I’ve also never played/dm’ed before. The DCs seem a bit too high for them and the rewards are a bit much. Could anyone please give advice on how high to make the DCs and what to give as rewards?

Hey, probably a bit late for a reply, sorry about that, maybe this comment can help future folks! I would drop the DCs to probably 10 (8 if you want to be generous since you want them to get through this) for the first room, and increase by 1 in each successive room. Similarly, you could just start the rewards after the third level of rooms, using the rewards from the first rooms and moving up from there.

Hope your run through it was enjoyable (unless I caught you in time, in which case, I hope it will be)!

Thank you so much! I was really at a loss there. We haven’t played yet, so your advice was in time.

This was soooo fun to run as a dm. My players had so much fun, we were living so hard there were tears. Definitely an awesome session and a break from the norm. Give this one a shot.

I just ran this as a one shot with my friends for an impromptu session, all of them veteran players except for one first timer. It was super easy to DM for and everyone had a blast playing. Some moments made the party laugh so hard we had to take a break! I also loved the hockey reference :)

I loved DMing this adventure. It wasn't too long but it was long enough and my players liked it a lot. It was also a great way to introduce the main villain of another campaign so they have a history with him.

My players really enjoyed it. Nice deviation from usual hack and slash. You will have to decide your own xp awards for completion. On tougher rooms I allowed a passive perception check to give hints when players were stumped. Also my daughter who played liked it because her name is Katerina.

My subsitute DM ran this adventure for my party, and we had a blast! One of the players wanted to offer his appreciation for your naming a character "Testicles".

Nothing in particular, or whatever you want! This is a classic riddle in that the players have to ask a question that will make it clear which one lies and which one tells the truth.

I attempted to load the PDF. It appears to be broken. I opened it in Adobe Acrobat, same thing I use for everything else, and it told me the file was broken and could not be repaired. I would very much appreciate a working link!

Hey Matt, not the first time I've had this comment, not sure what is going on, but I will re-upload the file and hopefully that fixes it.

Until then, please use either of these links to get your file!

Is it possible to get a printer-friendly version? I'm excited about running this but would like to have them printed out.

Absolutely: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lnywpx4d7g9hcg0/Igor%27s%20Challenge%20-%20Printer%20Friendly.pdf?dl=0

There's still some color and unnecessary lines to it, but I can't seem to remove those from the homebrewery template, but should be close enough.

This is perfect! thank you. I will be using this as the start to my new campaign. instead of a standard "you are sitting in a bar" it'll be "you've all gathered here a few days early in prep for this big festival." Thank you for this creative one-shot.

Sounds great, I would not have thought to use this to start, but it makes sense. That's half the fun of creating, seeing how other people use the ideas. If you enjoy it, I'd always appreciate a review!

Works fine when I download it. Was the download interrupted, or perhaps any software issues? If the file is just coming to you broken no matter what though, let me know and I'll hit you up with a link.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
