I wasted money. I can't find the supposed pdf's (Should be JPEG) without the map or grid.

For god's sake, we're already paying for this. Please remove the DM John Bard watermark. I can't even do it myself with a free version of Adobe if I wanted to.

The maps look good but being in PDF format, as others have said - these simply aren't ready to be used in Roll20 - the grids aren't aligned correctly - cannot be turned off without using Adobe premium and the 'watermarks' are too overt.
These need to be provided as JPG files to be usable in Roll 20 natively really

The maps are great, but the files being PDF makes this hardly worth it if you're using an online tabletop. The task of converting all of these to .jpg is really making me wish I had tracked down something else.

I also can't convert them out with a free program without the grid. So the "gridless" option doesn't exist for me, making even more work. Great maps, terrible format.

I also want to use these on roll20. I googled "pdf to jpg" and found that adobes website can convert it for you, you have to do them one by one tho.

For those of you using this on VTT, is there a good way to upload them without the grid? Right now my only option seems to be to capture the screen and surely that's not the intention...

The PDF file format provided appears to require a paid subscription to Adobe in order to remove either the grid or the logo (i've tried GIMP/Inkscape/PDFEdit/etc unsuccessfully). If at all possible could you provide the no-grid options in a file format that is not locked behind a paywall?

These maps are really cool and I would hate to have to pursue a refund over something so minor.

Can we get these in jpeg files? Something easy to upload into digital map tools?

I agree, should have option of something easier. Sure, you can upload a PDF to roll20 but not without the water marks and you need a paid version of software to set a pdf's layers as the default state, so you can convert it to an image without the water mark/grid.

This is a good recommendation. I will look into it and try to implement jpgs for roll20

is there an update on this? You need to buy adobe acrobat in order to remove layers and export it as a .pdf.

So I bought and downloaded, this set and I'm excited for my players to see these maps. My only question would be are there more maps without the grid? I've unrar'd/unzipped all of the files but only seem to have 3 maps with no grid lines, am I missing something?

I have updated all the files. There is now a single pdf for every map with removable grid and logo! So you will find that maps you are looking for.

I just bought these for my second time running OotA, and I'm really happy with them already. I can't wait for my players to see them, too. I have a question, though- are the UT Resting and Encounter maps supposed to be the same map? Both the 5ft and 10ft versions are exactly the same. I'm not sure if I'm just missing something, but it doesn't make sense to me.

The short answer is no. I haven't touched areas of the adventure where official maps existed.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
