A Short Term Contract

ADD TO WISHLIST >

A wounded stranger, with deep pockets enlists the services of the party to take on a simple and straight forward job. This cake walk however must be accomplished with no one knowing they were ever there.

Who the stranger called Titanus? Who is his employer Mr. Meeks? This mysterious Tiefling from Waterdeep makes sure prophesy runs its "destined" course but for what purpose? More questions will be raised than answered at the end of "A Short Term Contract".

A Short Term Contract is the first in a 3 three part series that can be played in sequence or as single stand alone adventures.

Please add reviews and ratings so that I can improve future modules. Thank you!

Hello everyone! So we just finished a cross country move and just got internet. We are awaiting the final truck of household goods so we can begin the remodel of our new home. New meaning built in 1909! I am also attempting to assemble a new play test group so that the next module can be released. Thank you all for your patience and hopefully your adventuring has not been hindered in any way.

I will be using this story to teach two people how to play DnD. My son has watched a lot of Critical Role and other rpgs with me, but my friend in Australia had never heard of it before. This will be a video chat game and my first time DMing. I'm looking forward to it and can't wait to see what you publish next in the adventure. Thank you so much for your hard work!

Thank you for the purchase! I can't wait to hear how it goes. Please leave a rating when you are done. I had to move back the next modules release date due to some family matters but hope to have it out as soon as possible.

I ended up running it for my sons, 17 and 9. They enjoyed it a great deal. The little one is asking to play MORE DnD!

Excellent! There are plenty of options on the DMG to choose from and you can always run your own adventures. Use movies and books for inspiration and have a great time!

Just read through this campaign. Really great story. I'll be using it for my parties first game! I'll drop a comment about the run through after we play, but I have high hopes! Can't wait to see more!

So, overall pretty smooth. I did have problems with exploring the rock formation. As a first time DM it was difficult to run them through it without giving much away. If that makes sense. Also, I think the flow and formatting of the story can be better laid out? You give a lot of options for what happens if the girl sees them or what happens if they take too long. Its difficult to tease that apart. But part of those problems came from this being my first time DMing. We didn't get all the way through it in one session so im trying to figure out how to end it with more than them showing up in Waterdeep. Still a great story and I can't wait to see the next two installments!

You can always feel free to cut out any of the options on being observed if it makes game play go smoother. Do take into consideration that some of those trap points can be useful later in the scenario. I tried to groom the module toward 1st time DM's and players so I tried to provided as much food for thought with the options. However this is now your game so run it any way you want. If it "goes sideways" just run with it and have fun! If you are having fun chances are your players will be having fun too. The return trip can be an adventure all on its own if the 2nd half goes by too quickly. Ask yourself did the players like the combat or the role playing more and gear it toward that. If they rush to finish the job and get the payoff you can always let them go shopping at the end and get them ready for another adventure. Then run them though one of your own or another one from the DM Guild. The next module is going to be delayed as we have decide to move and are focusing on that now. Thank you for buying...See more

Joey H- Thank you for the review! I will be sure to proof read the next module in more detail and try and eliminate those types of errors. I am also looking at some cartography options other than scanned drawings for the final 3rd installment. Hopefully that will minimize future confusion in regards to areas on the maps. Brett

We just ran though the module and I wondered if your next ones planned to follow the whole "prophesy workers" idea because I really like the concept. Also will Titanus be making much of a future appearance? my party seems pretty interested in him, especially after one of them got grubby with his ring.

The concept and missions will continue on this path and will show the characters some of what is going on behind the scenes of this version of the multiverse. Titanus will be returning in the near future however feel free to have him show up before then looking for his lost property.

Keep stats secret. "If you stat it they will try to kill it." is a pretty well know concept in RPGs. If sticky fingers gets a whoopin' and tries to turn the party against T then the opportunity for the truth to come out can always arise, just like real life. You can always have Mr. M play intermediary in the interest of keeping the party healthy or have them go looking for T and gather some intel from the underbelly of the city. Let the party learn, from various sources, that T is as reliable as Mr. M but is deadly if crossed. Hope that helps!

Hope to have the next Mod out in late July so adventure on!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
