Chromatic Dragons - Enhanced Enemies 1

Chromatic Dragons - Enhanced Enemies 1

The dragon is the archetypical monster of Dungeons & Dragons. Heck, it’s right there in the name. Unfortunately, the 5th edition dragon doesn’t always live up to the hype. Being the monster at the end of the dungeon and the big baddie that will finally push the player characters to their limit is a hard part to play, and the dragon sometimes falls woefully short, because it suffers from one fatal flaw: it’s kinda bland.

This document seeks to set things right, giving you options for enhancing the draconic villains of your campaign. This document includes:

  • Two general attack enhancemens. The Swallow Whole and Tail Fling abilities will power up your dragon, making it more dangerous and giving it more control of the battlefield.
  • An unique action option for each of the five chromatic dragons. The black dragon gains a powerful strength-draining feature, the blue dragon the ability to shock and paralyze its foes, the green dragon can turn its enemies against each other, the red dragon can alter the battlefield to its liking with clouds of smoke and the white dragon can encase a foe in a block of ice.
  • Tailored spellcasting templates for each of the five chromatic dragons. From wyrmling to ancient dragon, each dragon gets a scaling spellcasting template that can be quickly added to your draconic villain.

Why do the saves in the description not match the saves in the following boxed section? Am I missing something?

I'm really grateful for the that has been put into this material, my players really loved how it reignited the the threat that dragons pose after their rather anticlimactic run-in with a green dragon early in the adventure. I've found that combining the spellcasting presenting in this book with that presented in the Monster Manual yields very satisfactory results without turning the Dragon into an oversized wizard; spellcasting legendary actions also come reccomended! I REALLY hope you continue to make content like this, its worth its weight in gold considering how uninteresting many of the original monsters are in 5e.

Please do! Demons and Devils could use some love too, it'd also be really interesting to see you handle the Metallic Dragons, although they don't see use that often as enemies.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
