5e Encounter Management

Suggested Price $0.50

This is a fillable encounter management that has auto-calculating stats. It lets you design/populate encounters for monsters of up to three distinct types and up to seven of each type (allowing for up to 21 monsters per page). It includes an Initiative tracker and a small notes section for loot, NPC motives, or whatever else strikes your fancy.

This is a modified version of the work started by Neskatomon and Master Herald in this reddit thread.

This is pretty dang awesome! Pretty much exactly what I'm looking for in tracking things, though the -5 as a base doesn't make for a good item to print blank and write things in for on the spot kind of things and I'm not sure I've ever had a monster with a proficiency. Any chance you would put up a base printable kind of one without the auto fill -5?

You're absolutely right about the -5 making it a bit hard to just print and fill in (I'll be uploading a fix tonight!).

The Proficiency space is there so that if combat takes a turn for the weird (looking at you, bard), you can improv attacks a little easier without having to go to the DMG to look up monster proficiency (or calculate it from the attacks they do have) for weapons that they pick up and would be "proficient" in using. If you look at the DMG, pg. 274 you can see monster proficiency by CR in a table on the bottom left. If you want to figure it out from the stat block, you could use the modifier of an attack to calculate it (or one of the skills they're proficient in, although sometimes they have "expertise" in certain skills so that is a bit tricky).

As an example: the Scout from the SRD is +4 on a longbow with +2 DEX, so it has a +2 Proficiency, or from the table CR 1/2 => +2 Proficiency.

Granted, this may not be needed by everyone (most...See more

It's a great product for those who want to just plan for events and pull out the sheet when they mess up and say "a spy and 5 blood hawks appear", so I was happy to purchase. If I was to suggest a different box would be quick access to something like passive perception in case they trigger the encounter or a place to mark down a previous initiative roll to smooth things up there. You could also consider sizing down some of those things to make room for another or do a split kind of thing. Thanks for making that change!

You could also just make it a Misc. space. LOL

Yeah, I think passive perception is likely the most beneficial for the most people. Thanks for the feedback!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
