Wizard Wand Magic

Don't Wizards already USE wands?

They do my friends, but what if there was a wizard or witch out there who used Wands... differently?

In the style of JK Rowling's universe where Wizards like Harry Potter (c) wield Wands and cast spells without a spellbook, I present to you the Wand-Mage, or Wand-Wielder.

Hailing not far from the great city of Waterdeep, denizens of a small city called "Pigsale" are drastically affected by the Spellplague from hundreds of years ago, as well as the nieghboring forest of Ardeep.

The people there don't realize for several generations that the wild magic of the Spellplague has altered them to their very core. Able to use wands located in the Ardeep forest, the people learn that they are attuned to the woods and that they can cast spells much differently than normal wizards.

This system uses Spell Points as opposed to Spell Slots, and is a 1-for-1 spell point for spell level system, so it is not the same as the DMG. It has been modified to account for this change, so it should be comparable.

This new class listing has some of the original creators of the school that has been created to train these new wizards, some new backgrounds, new spells, new magical items, new monsters and new methods of playing the game.

im not interested in harry potter, but i read something that irked me in your text.

you know arcane focuses right ?
because one of them is a wand and if the wizard uses that instead of the component pouch, they can literally do what you just did without having a need to lose an archetype doing so. also since its their focus, if they lose the wand (focus) they basically cannot cast any spells, the same way they would if they lost the component pouch.

so basically, i could already just use the wand focus instead of component pouch and then use the spells in the book as normal and call myself harry potter.

I do know what Arcane Foci are. That was kind of the trade-off to not having to lug a spellbook around with you. Also, there was more of an emphasis on using spell points as opposed to spell slots. If you read the section on "Dependence on Wands", it goes into detail about how the wand is their arcane focus AND spellbook. In your example, players can still "borrow" their fellow mage's component pouch to cast their spells. With this system, they cannot. Their wand is their key to magic.

Thank you for the criticism though! I appreciate that you took the time out to comment. :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
