I've been doing some work for Nixie npcs and have consulted all of the available sources from previous versions. Here's all of the changes that I've made to your class for use as an NPC in my campaign.

I really like the original Nixie powers from the original D&D White Box to charm a human for 1 year. This is repeated in the PC3 The Sea People source. I'm giving them fey charm as a 2nd level sub-race feature, moving Illusive Veil up to 1st level, and removing Feylight Aura (it's very similar to dancing lights which they already get as their starting cantrip).

Fey Charm (2nd level): As an action, you can combine your mystic surges with all nixies within 120 feet. By expending a combined 10 mystic charges, you can cast the charm person spell with a duration of 1 year instead of 1 hour.

Nixies should be able to speak Aquan instead of Sylvan.

In the sources, they are described as being small (about 3 feet tall) so I've removed diminutive figure for Nixies....See more

I'd move the 1 year duration to a higher level, possibly even a racial feat with high level requirements.

Aquan is an elemental language rather than a Fey language, so Sylvan in my opinion fits the Nixie more. This could also be a consideration for a racial feat though.

You're right about the size. I'll fix that in the next update.

I agree that Dex makes more sense than Str - I'm going to make it so that they use Dex for Athletics checks made to swim.

I think that I'm going to replace Fog Cloud with Charm Person, which is a 1st level spell. That will maintain the game balance while adhering to their original DnD features as you've mentioned.

Since the Conjure Animals spell itself is broad and still needs to be balanced against the other spells, I could make that a racial feat benefit that specifies aquatic beasts.

Thanks for mentioning the sources. I'll look into them for the update.

This shows promise, but I would love to have a sprite.

If you mean by the original mythology of sprites, I may add that to the subraces as an update.

There's a sprite in the monster manual, and I was hoping for something that fit those lines. It fits pretty well with the mythology in my opinion.

You're right. I'll add it to my bucket list.

This is both a race and a class so it was a bit complicated to say the least. As usual, I'm open to feedback.

Hi, absolutely love this, great work! However I was hoping you could clarify something for me? It says that starting equipment is given based on your fairy background, however neither background seems to give you any? Is this deliberate or just left out?

Whoops I forgot to save on that part when I revised it from a previous version. It should be basic clothing only, with an optional 3d4 x 10 gp if starting at level 5 or higher.

I'll upload an updated file.

Thank you!

Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
