DDAL05-10 Giant Diplomacy (5e)

SEER has learned of an attempt to intimidate Gralm, an ettin, and his followers into joining Bad Fruul’s army.

HSING comes forth to communicate that she wants you to see if you can find some way to either insure Gralm remains neutral, or to encourage the creature to challenge Bad Fruul to single combat in the hopes that he might wrest control of the hill giant’s forces and turn them back from Parnast.

A Two-Hour Adventure for 1st-4th Level Characters

We (Wizards) recognize that some of the legacy content available on this website does not reflect the values of the Dungeons & Dragons franchise today. Some older content may reflect ethnic, racial, and gender prejudice that were commonplace in American society at that time. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. This content is presented as it was originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed. Dungeons & Dragons teaches that diversity is a strength, and we strive to make our D&D products as welcoming and inclusive as possible. This part of our work will never end.

Purchased by my FLGS and I ran it for their AL Program: Lots of fun, and the players had a blast! They really enjoyed contest in the middle, and the options/development of the final encounter.

4/5 stars, very fun module. Set up is easy enough, and builds on previous season adventures quite well.
Had fun RPing the ettin, and the players seemed to enjoy the challenges. Final fight is not difficult at all, although I recommend the DM use the dryads to charm at least one party member, otherwise it's a romp. I had a large party and they had no issues whatsoever. It's a fun module, I recommend it.

So, I ran this module recently and discovered that there is (was?) errata for this module in regard to the min/max XP awards for the players. This was officially written errata in FAQ v6.1, but not in FAQ 7.1, where I also noted some of the errata in 6.1 was reprinted, which may indicate this particular errata was retracted? I also attempted to check the "Suggestions and Errata" link in the FAQ but it did not contain any information about this module.

If it's possible to get clarification on this point, specifically if errata printed in old FAQs persists even if not carried over to later versions, I would appreciate before giving my players the bad news.

Does this include a FG .mod file? Does not state so in the description, but states multiple file formats.

SPOILERS

5/5, this is one of my favorite modules. It works for veterans who want something other than a straight up hack and slash as well as for new players who need an introduction to combat and role-play. The only thing I've run into and had to change is when I have a large group of children at the table then I change the alcoholic beverage portion of the mission. When I'm with a group of adults I like to upgrade the drunkenness penalties so they bleed over more into combat than just the role-playing portion of the module since most of the player's participating in the contest portion of the module are my fighters/barbarians/paladins. I also tend to speed through the puzzle room rather than spend a lot of time there, it's a cool threat to the players and a skill challenge which I think many players enjoy but it can also easily become a time waster; also, with the puzzle room if you actually read that box text out loud to your players more power to you...I always paraphrase it.

I'm pleased to see that the xp awards for this one have been hit by errata. They were far, far too generous.

I'm looking in FAQ 7.1 and I don't see about this in the errata. Am I missing something or has it been taken out?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
