Volo's Bag Of Holding: 1,000 Trinkets, Baubles, and Curios Found In The Forgotten Realms and Beyond

Taking a walk down the market place on a lovely Mirtul day, you stumble on a very common looking sack on the ground, not unlike those being used by the vegetable merchant stalls all around you. Opening up the sack, the first thing you notice is that the lining inside is of a much more luxurious material than that of its exterior. A rather lengthy tag on the inside of the bag reads:

“Property of Volothamp Geddarn, Mage Extraordinaire and Chronicler of All Hidden Knowledge Of The Realms (Do Not Allow Yourself To Be Captivated By Paltry Imitators). Warning! Do not remove any contents from this bag! Removing any of its items will bring extreme peril to even the most seasoned of adventurers! Please return to the offices of Tym Waterdeep Limited, to the attention of Justin Tym in the City Of Waterdeep for a handsome reward!

Volo’s Bag Of Holding contains 1,000 trinkets for your Forgotten Realms (or any other setting) game. Rummaging around in the bag, you’ll find items such as:

A chapbook entitled: “Whip It Good: A Life In Service to Lovitar"

The mummified talon of an Elephant Bird

A small perfume vial containing Darkdew

A small Tabasheer toe ring.

A pirate's hat with a metal brooch, the seal of Ship Kurth.

Use this resource to add more flavor to your characters, or to inspire plot hooks for an entire campaign. Invaluable to players and DMs alike.

I thought the publisher was willingly removing titles and reuploading them under a different URL to erase bad reviews or critical comments. After talking with a DrivethruRPG representative, I understand it was an honest mistake on their part.

Any chance for a printer friendly version without the background that would use too much ink?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
