This is a pack of SPELL EFFECT TOKENS for VTT 5e DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS. (thats virtual tabletop folks :D )

UPDATED
This token set has been updated to reflect Xanathars Guide, as well as the original 5E token set, which has been reworked, totalling 136 spells and effects.
The original 72 spell effects .PNG tokens at 70 pixels per five feet have been left in this product, for those who use FANTASYGROUNDS in its native form.
The majority of these spells have vastly better graphics to work under the "Critically Awesome Essentials & One Click Druid (Fantasy Grounds)" tools

https://www.dmsguild.com/product/261591/Critically-Awesome-Essentials--One-Click-Druid-Fantasy-Grounds

NOTE: WITHOUT LAYER STACKING, THESE WILL SERIOUSLY COMPLICATE YOUR COMBAT. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

The tokens are persistent spell effects, so... anything CHARACTER DISCERNIBLE, with a DEFINITIVE LOOK, and NON INSTANTANEOUS duration will be covered,
Additionally I have included a selection of extra AoE effects have been covered for SOME popular direct dammage spells.
Tokens are sized at 70 pixels per 5ft, and the diameter of the token has been included in the spell name to foolproof correct scaling.
A number of spells have more than one token, as they have more than one form.

Obviously, the .mod file goes in your modules folder, or you can unzip the tokens directly into your tokens folder.

Not a big deal, as it doesn't come up often, but I just noticed that the Zone of Truth token (very appropriate artwork, btw) says 30 ft., but it actually sizes to a 30 ft. *radius* instead of a 30 ft. *diameter* as per the spell description.

nicely caught. that one was missed by everyone including me for about two years. under the circumstances, im not sure changing the file is worthwhile, but i will rescale it when i next do an update. thankyou.

Is there a readme and/or instructions for installing anywhere? Using FGU - I see multiple files in the archive, including another archive of just tokens. I'm assuming we need to drop the v2 mod file in FGU modules (and can exclude installing the smaller v1 version) .. but I don't know what to do with all this other stuff, the .pdf and the zip full of tokens. Could someone help me out here...

you are correct. the v1 smaller tokens and extras are included as a courtesy, to those people using older game systems.

Hey, I'm having problems with one of my players tokens appear smaller than they actually are. Only for him though, my other players have no problem dropping the tokens or targeting with them. Any idea why? Or is this from 5e effects coding from Rob2e? It works fine for me as the DM.

ahm. i havnt come across this one before, and im not a coder. but if its ONE of your players and not all of them, then the issue almost certainly lies with that specific players settings.

The original 72 spell effects .PNG tokens at 70 pixels per five feet have been left in this product, for those who use FANTASYGROUNDS in its native form. so one file is the old spellset (which may be of some value), and the other is the new spellset. (which is better)

Pretty. Just bought this for Roll20. A few people in the comments have mentioned adding a ReadMe or something with basic instructions / suggestions on how to use them in various VTTs. (Of course, there are probably multiple options.)

For Roll20, one can just drop the PNG right on the tabletop, and it is there. For more complex uses (like having a library of spells for the players), you need to do a little work. This video I found helped me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8i2mFvRgpo (Learning Roll20 - Spell Tokens).

Please check the Call Lightning token. It has the wrong size 10 feet. (It should be 10 feet tall and 60 radius). Also there is nothing included for Burning Hands or am I missing something?

The area you call call a bolt down to is 60' radius. and the area that bolt effects when it grounds is in fact 10' the latter seems to be a much more useful token to be able to place on the map. Yes, you are missing something. burning hands is not included because as stated in the product description: these tokens are for persistent effects, which burning hands is not.

Curious why you think it is more useful this way since you can't show the whole area of effect with this. Lightning bolt, Dragon Breath some other tokens are not persistent effects either that's why I asked.
No need to act all offended.

not offended at all, but a 60ftrad, is bigger than many maps, and since the effect ties into several effect extensions, which use covering=targetting, this seems like a simple scenario: if you DM a 5'radAOE then you need to know where that is every round. so the best token is that space, and not the 60rad, which in most cases is faster for the DM and easier for the players to place. this is why i created the smaller token to be used every round, instead of the larger circle encompassing the spell duration and maximal effect. it seemed more useful, round to round. FTR: all the single round effects, are addendums to the token pack, there will be more eventually, but they are bonus, and not part of the core idea or utility.

After some investigation, it's "definitely" present, but the white of the web on the white background in the program used to open it made it impossible for me to see.

It shows up fine in Fantasy Grounds though.

Token modules DON'T APPEAR in the regular library. They are in the TOKEN library. alternatively, unzip the zip file into your tokens folder, and apply them spell by spell. this is what i generally do.

Any change of 'icon' versions of the tokens for use on the character sheets ?
I've just extended my spell tokens extension to have an icon option on the character sheet as some of your tokens do not show nice when at the 40(ish) pixel size. It would also be nice if you could provide versions of the cone (triangle) images with the wide part at the top instead of the bottom. So when 'adding' to the map the cone points 'north'/'up' by default instead of down?

Potentially odd question: Are these in a format I could, say, print, and use on a physical tabletop? Or are they XML type token packs? :S

the native format is PNG files. so they have an embedded alpha for sitting on your maps. this will make them extremely difficult to print nicely. if you were going to print them, youd need to extract the alpha from each file, and then print it onto transparent material. i think it would take a ton of experimenting to make this work well.

First of all let me just say that these tokens are all beautifully stunning. My players love them, especially when I drop something big. However, they never come out correctly sized, always bigger than they should be. It was driving me absolutely batty, until I finally realized it's because very few (if any) FG maps are actually on a 70x70 grid. Most of the official WotC content I have looked at is on a 50x50 grid. Sometimes the grid size varies from map to map within the same module. Many of the Curse of Strahd maps have a 32x32 grid for whatever reason. I should note that I am not using Critically Awesome Essentials, so I, as DM, go into the Layer option (in Unity), drag the token to the tile stamp, and put them on the map that way. If there is a different way to do it that would make them come out correctly sized I have yet to figure it out. :)

Anyway, I don't know if there is much, if anything you can, or want to, do about it, but I thought I would give you a head's up. All in all...See more

I am having the same or similar problem. Everything was great until I started my 2nd computer and hopped in as a player to use spell tokens. As the player, the few tests I made had all the tokens size to one square 5'x5'. I was pretty bummed because this was cool when learning it as DM. But then I think I figured out a work-around and that is to have the DM computer drag the token onto the map which sizes correctly and then let the player move it around into position. I'm using a standard map that comes with Sunless Citadel: Room 42 Central Garden to be precise. (It is a big room so I can test these things out.) Not sure why the difference between the DM token sizing and the player. I'm using Fantasy Grounds Unity if that makes a difference.

ahm. its not possible for me to advise you without knowing your software :) ive had no complaints for fantasygrounds that havnt been resolved quickly with a little checking. (if you read down this comments list you will see multiple instances of this).

but as for foundry or roll20 it is certainly possible to unzip the file and pull the tokens out manually. im unsure as to the implimentation of modfiles for those platforms as i dont use them. i hope this helps to some degree. etc.
let me know.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
