Had the chance to experience this adventure at an online convention recently. It was a fun and interesting adventure. The final battle was an interesting puzzle to try to figure out how one could win with limited resources.

I ran "Giantslayer" as introductory adventure that will influence and kick off both Lost Mines of Phandelver and Storm King's Thunder, and I have to say, that as a table we loved this adventure for its story, its NPCs, and the learning opportunity it presented our one brand-new player.

The satyrs taught them that murder is a last recourse, the mephits that there is always a risk for reward, the NPCs that there are lovable albeit with flaws in a living world, and the giant taught them that comradely, planning, goodly intentions, and elbow grease can go a long way against the least reasonable and mightiest of foes.

I highly recommend this adventure for any party (level 1–3). To those DMs who run this, might I recommend the following: 1) Keep a mental image of an abandoned Scorton in case your PCs decide to head there and investigate, 2) Write a short script that gives Pello, Grigor, and Tastra some personality. I played Pello and had two volunteers from the table read the other...See more

I really enjoyed running this adventure because it gives player characters a chance to feel like heroes while keeping the right amount of silliness. There are plenty of opportunities for good role play and the giant encounter offers a unique chance for creative strategizing for a one-shot. As DM, I had a lot of fun presenting the town's argument about what to do, giving each spokesperson a unique voice. To finish within an evening, I cut out the Weeping Rock encounter but it did not negatively impact the story.

I have run several M.T. Black adventures (bought Complete pack) and am never disappointed! Thank you for all your work.

I purchased this through the adventure pack and ran a group through it last week. Was very well written. Really enjoyed how the roleplaying and skills impacted the final fight difficulty. Very easy to run and even the experienced players enjoyed it.

M.T. Black and Richard Jansen-Parkes. I wanted to leave a review of your module "Giantslayer". I absolutely loved it! We just started a home group and it was the perfect introduction for new players. Wonderfully written, easy to play, and the group thoroughly enjoyed it. It perfectly set up our next adventure. We plan to play several of the modules in the packet you published. Also, I haven't been a DM since the 1980s and it was perfect for me to get back into the swing of things. Thank you for your creative and wonderful work. Definitely a fan.

Bought this as part of a packet of M.T. Black's adventures and wanted to add a quick review. This adventure would be great for first-time players and DMs alike. It has some delightful role-playing interactions with some fantastical woodland creatures as well as some dynamic combat with dangerous foes. Clearly written and easy to run for new DMs.

I'm adding my review here since I bought this adventure through one of your adventure packs.

I give this adventure 5 STARS for being a ton of fun. This adventure stood out to me even as I was first reading it. There are a ton of choices and roleplaying opportunities built into this module, and it all culminates with an epic battle that requires a lot of creativity and opens the door to a bunch of fun possibilities. Thank you for making such an awesome adventure!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
