Tommy's Terrific Treasures

ADD TO WISHLIST >

I have updated several items to hopefully have them less broken. If I can fix anything else please let me know.

These items are either based off already existing items in the D&D universe, influenced by things I love, inside jokes or even named after my friends. I made this because I thought it sounded fun and I hope you can gain some use from these. If you feel certain items are too strong or even too weak, feel free to change them as you see fit. Have fun!

- Over 50 items

- Two items reference the Player's Handbook & Monster Manual

- Printer Friendly Version

Hi! I thought you might want to know that I've included these Treasures in my roundup of the best of the DM's Guild for September over on loottheroom.uk. Really looking forward to your future releases!

Question about the Mind Blast Staff. The recharge mechanism is vague. When does that d6 roll occur? If that roll fails, does that make the staff useless from then on or is there another unlisted way to get the ability back?

Yeah, that's a valid point. I'll go back and fix it but the roll will be at the start of your turn. The staff will also recharge if you take a short or long rest. If you don't roll the correct numbers then the staff is useless until either you do roll them or take a short or long rest.

Sorry for not adding that in and thanks for catching it.

Hey in truth this is my first time trying to write items. I've been told they're over powered and going into figured they would be. I'd be down for making adjustments and whatnot.

I thought about that believe me I did. But then I shrugged and just went with it. There's all different types of DMs.

I think they are all very nice. A little work needed, but overall 4 stars. Why can't I rate it? I donated 55 cents.

Thanks :) I knew the items were overpowered going into it but I thought I'd just roll with it. I'm willing to make a few changes.

Ok, I have made some changes. I'm sure things might still be too strong but I hope it's a start. Thanks for the feedback.

Great job. Funny I think you went too far under power on some. Angelic sword is almost too weak. Otherwise, I think book of ran facts and the orange bishop should be uncommon. They're cool, but the fate of the world rarely hinges on a know roll or a chess match. Theres always chess tournaments after all with more than one match in a day.

I appreciate the feedback. Where would you place the angelic sword on damage? I'll switch the others to uncommon.

I think the sword should be +1,+2, or +3. And does 1d6,2d6,3d6. This is by compared to sunblade and sword of sharpness.

As for the belt of magnificent. Lowering the numbers didn't do enough. I'm assuming that it raises the max in all scores also? If so it should have a spec requirement. If you attune to it you can't attune to any other magic items. The belt is intelligent and encourages the wearer to be magnificent without other items help.

If you go that far I think it should be very rare +2, and legendary +4. You're welcome for the feedback. I have decades XP with the game and just love talking dnd

Oops. I looked at sword of sharpness again. You were right with the d4s, but give it +1,+2,+3 also. I think that puts it about right.

Falaflame and holsety. You must spend a week of downtime reading before using. After you use you must spend a week of downtime before using again.

Once again thanks. I've been playing d&d for years too but normally just use what's in the books for items. I'll change some numbers around and reword some descriptions. Belt of Magnificence is based on an op 3.5 item. I had no intention on raising max but see I didn't add that but I'll tweak it. Also are you saying I should Angelic Sword back to d4 but give it + 1 2 & 3?

Lol. I just saw the last update and d6s with no + to hit works good too. I like + to hit, but the radiant damage is plenty. See don't update that. I will help you with the others, but just wait until we're sure. Then update all at once. Glad to help

Been playing since BECMI OD&D. Then played AD&D. Liked 3rd edition. Tried to love 4th. It was colorful, but not very fun. Obviously I love 5th.

Yeah you have the experience for sure. I'm grateful for getting the help from such a vet of the game.

I have just a little knowledge in AD&D. My knowledge is in 3rd and 5th. I couldn't get into 4th.

A pleasure Thomas. Always nice to talk to a player who appreciates the game for the same reasons. Like you said I'm old enough to remember the game in black and white. Like before it was colorized. 5th is like the first high definition edition. But it still is about what you put into it. Some people want 2 vorpal swords for their character along with every possible feat. When I play I give my +1 sword a name and background. ;)

I love the books of power idea. Falaflame and hosiety. Where did you get those names. I have ideas for 2 more. Imperio casts dominate monster. Avada Kadavra casts power word kill. What do you think?

Haha yeah if another one of these comes out I'll have to add them. The names are from a Japanese only Fire Emblem game.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
