The Secret of Karnov Mansion - Adventure

"an inventive adventure that should give a good evening of entertainment for you and your players"

"A fascinating premise for adventure, whioch truly captures the imagination!"

What happens when you are invited to a dinner party at the Karnov Mansion during a full moon?  Certainly nothing good.  The wonderful dinner party, complete with excellent food, drink, and company, soon evolves into a 'cat & mouse' game that has the adventurers fighting for their lives.  Will they survive?  And will they uncover the secret of the Karnov Mansion?

Although the adventure is set in a non-specific location and can be dropped into any campaign, it feels right at home as a Curse of Strahd or Ravenloft one-shot adventure.

A 3 to 4-hour adventure for a party of levels 4 thru 6.  (Note: A party of 4th level without magical weapons may find this adventure challenging.)

Am I missing something? What is on the parchment that Argo hands the party at the beginning?

Am I missing something or is the overall map too small. Based on the 5' squares indicated most of the encounters with tigers would require that they squeeze to actually fit anywhere.

Hi I'm a little confused about section C "the wall directly behind the cellar" and where the several bottles of poison are. And the wall with the 15 AC and 100 hp

Looks like a fun, well written adventure. Can't wait to use it this Hallowe'en, Weretigers are under-represented!

Hey love the book!
Running it this Halloween for my players.

Some feedback.

I personally changed the NPC's hair to be orange or black to mimic their 'ahem' nature gives the players that "why didnt i realise" moment.
Also the Maze section i had to put a steel cage on top of to prevent my Warlock and Wizard from "noping out" with the Fly spell.
In addition the final room was a little too small for my liking so i increased the dimensions there.

Great work J.C.S!

How many players in the party would you recommend for this adventure?

This is my fist time DMing. I'm doing this one-shot while our DM is on baby leave:/

Is the first basement section with the 2 doors & the hallway where Jobe & the tigers attack shown on the map?

OK, Thanks for the reply.

So it would go from there into the open section of the map towards (1)?

One slight change I would suggest, the room where the final boss fight occurs needs to be a little bigger. A well placed fireball still can cover the entire room and do some major damage. Still an excellent adventure.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
