Fantasy Grounds: D&D Storm King's Thunder

Fantasy Grounds: D&D Storm King's Thunder

EXE File

Take a stand against the giants in this adventure for the world’s greatest roleplaying game.

Giants have emerged from their strongholds to threaten civilization as never before. Hill giants are stealing all the grain and livestock they can while stone giants have been scouring settlements that have been around forever. Fire giants are press-ganging the smallfolk into the desert, while frost giant longships have been pillaging along the Sword Coast. Even the elusive cloud giants have been witnessed, their wondrous floating cities appearing above Waterdeep and Baldur’s Gate. Where is the storm giant King Hekaton, who is tasked with keeping order among the giants?

The humans, dwarves, elves, and other small folk of the Sword Coast will be crushed underfoot from the onslaught of these giant foes. The only chance at survival is for the small folk to work together to investigate this invasion and harness the power of rune magic, the giants’ weapon against their ancient enemy the dragons. The only way the people of Faerun can restore order is to use the giants’ own power against them.

To defeat giants, you need to be giant!

This feels like a very unfortunate presentation of content. Like the other comment writers before me I'll have to request a refund due to consumer confusion. I wish you luck on your business here, but I hope you can improve what is actually being offered here because it looks like a lot of people are confused.

this is crap, don't get it if you want a PDF of the book, as that is what it implies, but it isn't, wish i could report this for fraud as that is what it seems like it is.

Hello Adam, I am sorry for the confusion. This is definitely not a PDF and we identified that the product name includes Fantasy Grounds and we list it as a requirement in our description. There are more than 60K licensed users of Fantasy Grounds and D&D is very popular on the platform. You should be able to request a refund for the purchase if you only wanted a PDF. We wish you the best in your future gaming, even if you never utilize a virtual tabletop.

I nearly purchased this thinking it was a full PDF, since right now it is still listed as one. I am disappointed to learn it is actually an add-on for a paid service.

You should be able to request a refund for this. We also provide a free 30-day trial subscription from our website if you would like to try it before deciding if this is the right product for you. If you do like it, you can either choose a subscription or a 1-time license purchase for the base software.

If not a PDF, then what's delivery method? UPS, FedEx, USMail?
Delivery time?
Also, is this exactly like the hardback book? Will players (imagine they can't see anything behind screen) be able to tell the difference (assuming they could recognize the hardback advevture)?

This is an add-on module for the virtual tabletop, Fantasy Grounds. It contains a digital representation of everything from the book and is set up for ease of play online or for use with Fantasy Grounds as a campaign manager and combat tracker at the table.
If you are unfamiliar with Fantasy Grounds, you can watch the intro video below and take advantage of the free 30-day trial on all subscriptions.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
