Centaur Race Build

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This is my first upload here, and I'm relatively new to D&D as a whole, so any feedback is appreciated!
This upload comes with 5 subraces I just kind of made up, but I tried to stay within the boundaries of the games canon so far. I liked the setup in the player's manual a lot (and all the cool illustrations), so I came as close as I could. I did all the illustrations and everything all by myself, and I'm pretty happy with it! I hope you're all happy with it too!
As I update this product, I'll add newer files, which should act as a replacement to older ones, but I will keep the older ones in case some might prefer them to the updated ones. The updated ones will have a date in the title, and the more recent the date, the newer it is.

This product is very well presented, especially the art, but I have a few concerns about the mechanics:

1. For clarification does the "trample" ability use an action or does it occur as a part of movement? If the former, making an attack roll would make more sense to me, and if the latter, that seems quite strong but still something you could build a race around with some adjustment, especially if it becomes the primary combat-related benefit.
2. I would suggest for balance reasons that instead of gaining +1 to attacks made with certain weapons, that proficiency be given instead. Indeed, I would suggest giving proficiency or advantage in place of flat bonuses to all places in the supplement that do so (besides ability score increases), and the -2 to Charisma isn't really necessary. Also, automatic advantage to saving throws is quite strong. I would recommend changing the wording of the mountain centaur's sure-footed trait to gaining advantage on saving throws against falling. I would...See more

1. It would definitely use an action and function just like any other attack, but I wasn't sure how to write it out! I'll edit that.
2. Good ideas, definitely.
3. I didn't even catch that going through it, it was a mistake on my part! I'll fix that too.
4. This is where my inexperience becomes a problem. I'm still not 100% familiar with the mechanics of saving throws/ability scores/ability checks, but I'll definitely do my best to fix it.
Thank you so much for the feedback, it's very appreciated!

Thanks for the feedback on the feedback. If trample is to be an attack I would suggest wording like this: "you can perform an unarmed strike with your hooves and can do this as a bonus action. When you do, on a hit your unarmed strike deals bludgeoning damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier."<br>
<br>
1d4 is if you allow the attack to be made as a bonus action, but I don't know if you'd want that, otherwise 1d8 is probably good.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
