Hi, I appreciate all the work that you have done for the conversion.

Just want to note that many of the magical items in the adventure are beyond that in what tier 1 (1-4 characters) should expect in the game. Plate armour +2 (DMG pg 149) is for Tier 3 (11-15 character - Table I in DMG) for example and ring invisibility is for Tier 4 (16-20 levels Table I DMG).

I think it might be prudent to substitute the random table roll for the appropriate tier unless the item is specifically needed to complete the adventure, or list the tier of the magic item so DMs know it might be game breaking at that level, or have a note indicating that many items in the adventure are not approprate for Tier 1 (say an "*: note to a footnote comment).

Evan M was right there were some problems with the first version of this conversion guide. Version 2.00 is now available. It corrects a tremendous list of errors in the original upload. New Monsters have been added, all Notable NPC's have been included, and the Monster List is now correct and complete. Highly recommend that if you have the previous version you update to the new.

This conversion is good, but there are a few monsters missing, like the rhagodessa. Also im not entirely sure this conversion is balanced to start at 1st level? the very first encounter with the iron ring has you fighting 20 members of the ring and a CR 5 reaver. That would annihilate any 1st level party, in fact i think it would annihilate any 3rd or 4th too.

Evan, thanks for pointing out the rhagodessa is missing. What other monsters have you noticed that are missing?

I've taken a look at your example, the river encounter. Reviewing this entry I have made three mistakes. I have not provided statistics for the Notable NPC Kalanos a 5th level fighter, the Iron Ring thief aboard the boat, and Reavers as Gladiators is too high. These reavers deserve their own stat block as 2nd level fighters. This should make the encounter more level appropriate.

Once again, I appreciate your input and helping make these conversion guides as good as they can be. I should have a revised copy available for download by tonight.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
