RACIAL ARCHETYPES - 40 NEW ARCHETYPES

THIS IS THE PDF VERSION! THE FANTASY GROUNDS VTT VERSION CAN BE FOUND HERE

This book contains 40 brand new archetypes spanning all classes, helping you to create iconic and unusual characters that represent a specific aspect of each race's personality and physique. With archetypes such as the Arcane Archer (elven fighter), the Saboteur (gnomish rogue), the Smithy Domain (dwarven cleric) and the Path of the Brute (half orc barbarian), each archetype presents new and unique mechanics that fulfill a fantasy archetype associated with that particular race, or something out there and unheard of that lets you be the first of your kind! Perfect to share with your table, this book is perfect for characters who want to represent their favorite fantasy race, or for a DM to help create unique monsters and NPCs unique to a race or region.

This material contains archetypes for each of the nine races in the Player's Handbook, as well as the four races in the Elemental Evil Player's Companion, covering all published races, with three archetypes per race (four for the genasi). Each class is fully represented, with three or four archetypes for every class in the Player's Handbook.

Packed full at 68 pages of content, all organized in the same layout as the Player's Handbook, each archetype costs you just 10 cents! Check out the PDF previews at the top of the page to see the full table of contents, including the list of all included classes, as well as a peek at the layout and design of this material. And if you like this content, make sure to check out Volo's Racial Archetypes - 41 New Archetypes & 8 New Races!

So without a version number or any other indication of changes, which one is the updated version?

I'm not certain why it is listing two different files. There should only be one file there. I've changed the file to be listed as V2, so that there hopefully will be no more confusion.

Also, the update is minimal, grammar and spelling fixes that snuck past the editors.

This is a very good document with some great ideas (and some REAL creative uses of established game system that i love a bunch, like the spell slots with the Dragonborn Barbarian!) im gonna go through and tag a few of my thoughts on some of the things that jumped out at me:

The Harrier, the overall class has cool flavor and the balance seems okay, the one thing that seems to throw me is "Wing Flurry" not so much the mechanics as the fluff for it just seems off the wall, nowhere before has it mentioned birds of prey as a companion, what if there is none in the area for them to co opt if they dont have one. I just feel this could be worked in abit more throughout the archetype or explained a little better.

I know very little about Warlocks in 5e so i dont have much to weigh in on those!

I love pretty much all your channel divinity options youve created for the various paladins and clerics throughout this doc!

Path of the Dragons Roar is one of my favorite...See more

Excellent material! My only issue is the Infernal Bloodline for the tiefling sorcerer. The devil's blood feature at level 1 literally doesn't give them anything since they already have resistance to fire damage, darkvision, and have infernal as their race language.

Could it be a reprint, so that people could use the rules with the basic edition of the game (which doesn't have Tiefling)?

A really neat product. 65 pages of worthwhile content. As a DM I love the adaptation section of each archetype. Absolutely full of worldbuilding flavor. Hopefully there will be a sequel for the races introduced in Volo's Guide to Monsters!

Thanks! Really glad you enjoyed it. And yes, a companion piece for Volo's Guide is in the works!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
