Dungeon Module TH4: Tower of Xandlexa

Small Disclaimer:

Tower of Xandlexa is the fourth and final adventure in the "TH" series. Like all the others it can be played separately or together with the other adventures in the series.

The Adventure:

You have been hired to loot the treasure within the ever-changing tower of Xandlexa, a powerful Illithid wizard who has been rumored to have recently passed away. However, the tower is far from empty and will require all your strength, courage, and wisdom.

Note from the Author:

I started D&D with the classic adventure White Plume Mountain and loved it. I enjoyed the simple formula and the way we just jumped into it. The quest lasted a few nights, and we felt accomplished as players. My ultimate goal was to capture what I loved so much with that module.

Tower of Xandlexa was made to emulate a classic Dungeons & Dragons adventure in the best way I could. Obviously, these are 5th Edition rules, and the pages inside follow that formula, but I've emulated the covers to classic modules, even made the traditional blue and white maps, and added in old school pics to try to enhance the vintage feel to a degree. Like a classic D&D module there's a little background info, and then you're put straight into the adventure and go from there.

Tower of Xandlexa is meant to be played as an adventure anyone can jump into and have fun. I chose the levels to be mid to high because I wanted players to have the options to use all those fancy high leveled skills or spell.

Finally, I would recommend having a pretty mixed group of characters. For example, a group of fighters will not be able to get far due to needing magic users, divine users, and rogues to complete floors. I've tried to structure this adventure so that everyone gets a chance to shine.

- The order of the tower's floors changes each time the adventure is played.

- The core rulebooks (Monster Manual, Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Volo's Guide to Monsters) are required to play.

- This experience has been designed to be a little harder and test the players.

Have Fun!!!

Dungeon Module TH2

Dungeon Module TH3

Some of this module takes heavy influences from here and here. These are both quality works, and I would recommend them to anyone.

Are there images files for maps? Also, are there DM and player versions of the maps?

I'm planning on running this soon. Can anyone explain the mechanic of rolling a d4 to determine which level is reached? How many times do you roll? How do you determine the total number of levels? What if you roll the same number as the level they just left? I feel like I missed something.

Hey, I can help. The idea is rolling 1d4 4 times on table "A" when going down the tower and eventually getting to the throne room. After fighting, Xandlexa in the throne room, the players then climb back up the tower and roll 1d4 4 times on table "B" when going back up it. Reroll any numbers you've already used. In truth, I missed writing it in and I'll need to add that. I hope this helps. I'll need to go back and clear things up.

Rules Edition(s)
Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
