CCC-BMG-01 CORE 1-1 A Scream in the Night

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Melvaunt is a city of merchants and metalsmiths. The docks are constantly filled with ships from Hillsfar, Mulmaster, and more distant ports. The northern coast of the Moonsea is an inhospitable place, and its people have a reputation for being rough and unfriendly.

But they don’t go around murdering one another in the streets.

At least, not usually. Was that a scream you just heard?

Part One of The Chaos in Melvaunt.

A four-hour adventure for 1st-4th level characters

Hi. Apologies if this has been asked before but any plans to convert this to Fantasy Grounds please? My DM has asked me to run this as part of season 4 and I might need to run it online. Can convert it myself but would be happy to pay for the official version to save me some time :)
Thanks

Does this adventure contain maps of key areas or is it more theater of the mind? Thanks

I'm interested in running this for new players but it doesn't look like the module has been updated to follow season 8 rule. May I give out the adamantine chunk or is it now an unlockable item?

Older adventures are not being updated to Season 8 rules. There are conversion rules out for doing so if needed. Those cover magic items and such things that used to have certs. This is not a certed magic item and as such no longer goes out (as it has a value). At least that is my understanding (somebody can let me know if I am wrong)

The group really enjoyed this adventure, very well done. Wish there was a bit more XP to give out, but we are looking forward to running part 2 next week. Great work, everyone!

Really enjoyed this module. Fun puzzles, combat, unique characters, and a sense of urgency really tied this one all together in a neat bow.

I had fun running that adventure for an event early February.

However, there is room for editing improvement. Area A of the marketplace is not indicated on the map, for example. Also, assuming the Adamantine chunks certificates were handed at conventions, the reward makes absolutely no sense when played outside.

This adventure is a ton of fun. A perfect mix of interesting characters, mystery, puzzles that players feel good solving, and interesting encounters. The only caveat I have is DM preparation. If you are the type of DM that likes to "wing it", this is not one I recommend for you. It is a complex adventure that definitely requires preparation to ensure a good player experience. If you come prepared, it is one of the most entertaining and fun adventures I've run so far.

Just glanced through the 1st in the series and was wondering if the three Core adventures you have are the complete series or if you plan more, and if so, how many and through what level? Excited to have more AL mods.

There are currently two Core Trilogies (one released and another releasing soon). All trilogies we do will continue to grow with no set end period in site. That includes Core, Hillsfar, Hulburg, Phlan, and Elmwood

The price is $4.99 - not sure why the system is showing $4 (but I will ask them).

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
