Classic Modules Today: N5 Under Illefarn (5e)

ADD TO WISHLIST >

In 1987, TSR published the module named “Under Illefarn” with the module code “N5”. It was written by Steve Perrin and illustrated by Jeff Easley and Luise Perenne. It consisted of a 48 page booklet and an outer folder containing maps. The module details the town of Daggerford and offers 4 adventures in the surrounding area including exploration of the titular mines. "Under Illefarn" was the first module produced specifically for the Forgotten Realms campaign setting.

This conversion guide allows DMs to run the original module with 5th Edition rules and provides a reference sheet for encounters. It is intended for 5-6 characters of levels 1-2, or 4 characters of level 3.

To use this conversion guide you will need a copy of "N5 Under Illefarn", originally available in hard-copy and now for sale in Digital format at DMsGuild.com.

"Classic Modules Today: B4 The Lost City" contains the OpenOffice/LibreOffice source files used to create this PDF. Visit Classicmodulestoday.com for instructions on creating your own classic module conversions and selling them on the DMs Guild.

Classic Modules Today are a series of products that convert early edition Dungeons & Dragons and Advanced Dungeons & Dragons adventure modules to the Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition rule set. They fully adhere to the rules set forth in the Community Content Agreement of the DMsGuild. The CCA states that adventure conversions must be:

"A streamlined, bare-bones conversion guide for someone who already owns the classic adventure — i.e., encounter-by-encounter conversion notes with any 5E stats needed, leaving out all other content."

For more information, download the free guide "Using Classic Modules Today Conversions".

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
