Classic Modules Today: The Gates of Firestorm Peak (5e)

ADD TO WISHLIST >

In 1996, TSR published the adventure named “The Gates of Firestorm Peak” for Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd edition. It was written by Bruce Cordell and illustrated by Jeff Easley and Arnie Swekel. It consisted of a 96 page book and cover folder that held 2 double-sided poster maps; one map of the complex and 3 tactical maps. It also came with punch-out counters for use with the tactical maps. "The Gates of Firestorm Peak" was the first adventure to incorporate rules from the AD&D 2nd edition Player's Option(TM) book series, and the first to feature the Far Realm, a Cthulhuian plane of horror and insanity.

This conversion guide allows DMs to run the original module with 5th Edition rules and provides a reference sheet for encounters. It is intended for 5-6 characters of levels 6-8.

To use this conversion guide you will need a copy of "The Gates of Firestorm Peak", originally available in hard-copy and now for sale in Digital format at DMsGuild.com.

"Classic Modules Today: B4 The Lost City" contains the OpenOffice/LibreOffice source files used to create this PDF. Visit Classicmodulestoday.com for instructions on creating your own classic module conversions and selling them on the DMs Guild.

Classic Modules Today are a series of products that convert early edition Dungeons & Dragons and Advanced Dungeons & Dragons adventure modules to the Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition rule set. They fully adhere to the rules set forth in the Community Content Agreement of the DMsGuild. The CCA states that adventure conversions must be:

"A streamlined, bare-bones conversion guide for someone who already owns the classic adventure — i.e., encounter-by-encounter conversion notes with any 5E stats needed, leaving out all other content."

For more information, download the free guide "Using Classic Modules Today Conversions".

Actually Mark I'd pay good money for a Night Below conversion. Your conversion of Gates is really fantastic!

Thanks! There is a Classic Modules Today conversion for Shattered Circle, but not one for Night Below. I have Night Below, so I'll look into it.

Hi there!

The 'Gibbering' power - it's missing from your greater Gibbering Mouther and beyond? Do they not gibber like the CR2s from the MM?

Or am I just being blind? In which case, apologies.

I checked my pdf copy and the monster stat block has it listed. If your copy doesn't have it, let me know and I will re-upload the file.

Hi ! I've red it and it's awesome. I recommand the conversions !
I'm now interested to us one of your stats block in one of my "soon to come" product which will be sold here.
DMsGuild seems to allow that : "When re-using a larger element that you have taken from another DMs Guild author’s work, include a reference to the original work by linking to the product page on DMsGuild.com within your PDF. For example, if you are using a Rainbow Unicorn creature that you found in another author’s work, you might reference that inside your own work where you provide stats for the Rainbow Unicorn the first time, using an internal citation such as, "(Rainbow Unicorn from Cloud Forest by Jane Doe)."
But I would like to know if it's a big problem for you ?. You will be credited of course.

Hi Corentin. It is allowed by the DMs Guild and I'm delighted to contribute to another person's work. Use whatever you like, and thank you for the kind words!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
