Thanks for the185 in sales. That is humbling. With watching twitch more and more house rules that are similar to what is done here. To those that said the options were too overpowered. The Paladin that did 300 points of damage using multi classing is not. They just did it multi classing instead of using feats. Also as pointed out feat the vast majority of feats designed by Wizards has the +1 to stats.

Jamie V.D. also neglected to say the feat to say that the feat is 1.5 x your strength modifier when weapon is held in two hands. As I have indicated allot of the feats come from concepts from previous additions. The above feats is from 3, 3.5, and Pathfinder.

Jamie V.D first thanks for your purchase.

If you look in the players handbook it mentions Feats the same way. For powerful blow a knock back component makes it too similar to the battle master. Also allot of these feats have been in various versions of D&D. Also you did not mention the weapon master Feats that do add some effects like you mention that do not overlap with the Battle Master. There are allot of options in the book like you mention but you only talk about 4 things you did not like. There is nothing in the book that is overly complex and uses the same mechanics you mention in what you would like to see with powerful blow. So using your own example there would be nothing in the book that was too complex. The skill Feats add a level to the skill system that is not currently there. You keep mentioning stat boost then effect in this case advantage on skill checks as plain. This is the same format in the Players Handbook. So not really sure what you want out feat other than secondary effects....See more

Sorry late response do not come back to this page quite as much. Tim B let me check. Yes the table contents are 19 and 20 is cover. It was layout decision for print book. It is little strange sorry. It is right layout though.

Also since you got this PDF get More Brutal Tactics. Has clarifications called shots and other optional stuff. It is pay what you want.

Is the pdf layout correct? My page 19 and 20 seem to be off. Page 19 is the table of contents and the page 20 is the cover.

Blair R. First thanks for buying the product. Not really a very specific on the overpowered statement. So I will run through some guesses. I would guess it would be related to maneuvers.

The advanced combat maneuvers are high level maneuvers related to emulate movie maneuvers where limbs are dismembered. I do not here to many say high level magic is overpowered. Melee was just given some interesting toys. AS far as no DM allowing this that is debatable. There are a number of game systems that already do this. Also they were based on lingering injury table which by the way does not have a save.

If were are talking about the feats then once again we will agree to disagree. If you look at the unearthed arcana and the feats and design philosophy then these feats are right in line with those. I would say that those feats are more powerful.

Then finally the called shot system has several options for the damage multiplier as well as an added die. The effects were out of the...See more

If you look at the Tome of Brutal Tactics and the Unearthed Arcana Article by Mike Mearls they share similar elements. Mechanical complexity unless triggered by specific events. In the case of Tome critical hits in allow saves to avoid effects or stop them. So not every attack triggers this. So it does not get bogged down with every attack. Also uses some similar mechanics such as die type increase. Looking at these feats and comparing to the ones in Unearthed they do not seem to good or powerful even when granting the Stat Increase. Feats should allow the characters to do cool things. Not mundane or average things.

I will stand by my comment below. I do not think there is better feat PDF/Book.

I think balance is something that is overused in product descriptions, comments, and reviews. There are feats in the Players Handbook that are better than others depending on what you want to do. Athlete may not be as good to a fighter as Great Weapon Master, Pole Arm Master, Mage Slayer, or Sentinel. So there are some feats in the Tome of Brutal Tactics that are more useful than others depending on what you want to do. But, the feats mentioned above stack up well to any feat in Tome of Brutal Tactics.

I did try to stay away from is duplicating classes features such as wild shape. When this happens it lessens the druid class to a degree when other classes can get this feature with a feat. The only exception was critical hitter which expands the critical range. However, the Champion can benefit from the feat also.

Actually I made mistake on Extra Attacks with Rapid Strike. It is per attack action not attack. So the first attack action for a fighter at 20th level is 4 attacks plus the 1 extra attack per attack action for Rapid Strike for total of 5. Action Surge can provide another Attack Action 4 attack Plus the 1 for Rapid Strike for total of 5. So it is 10 attacks not 16 with action surge. So the attack range is 5 to 10 with action surge.

PS there is love for the spell caster also with the signature spell and signature statistic. Also with the skill mastery feats you too can have advantage on Arcana Checks. Increase the damage die type by one die type with signature spell. Char that martial class before they get to you.

For the fighters are martial classes who like maneuvers there are true tiered maneuvers now. With the true tiered maneuver system the enemy spell caster has something to fear other than just hit point loss when a 10th level battle master approaches. Did the spell caster fear Conan because they might loose some hit points? No it was due to loosing their head or an arm. With the tiered maneuvers your Battle Master can remove a casters arms. It becomes hard to cast a spell when you do not have arms. PS there is also a Decapitation Maneuver. The Fighter and other Martial classes no longer have to be the caddy to the spell caster with Tome of Brutal Tactics.

I always find it curious when people leave comments about feats are too strong? A feat in 5e is something that is supposed to have a big impact on the character. Not be mediocre or average benefits/feats. The weapon style feats were inspired by 2e concepts of weapon mastery. The general combat feats were Pathfinder and 3.5 inspired. The skill feats was an original concept utilizing the advantage mechanic. There are 42 feats in all. Each of these lets the player do something cool. I do not think there is a feat PDF that on whole offers better feats or wow factor. There are some extreme examples were you could have +4 to hit with bow if you took weapon expertise for specific weapon type such as bow, piercing weapon style +1 piercing for ammo, and archery weapon style +2. I would think of legolas and the last hobbit movie and some of the bow shots made. These shots were at medium to long range and m ay require a +4 in addition to your proficiency bonus. Or if you take the light weapon style and you are a fighter...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
