First, gotta say, love the lore piece of this. It makes for a great read.

I do have some mechanics questions here though, and I only bring them up in order to improve the product. Can you only cast these spells if you are in possession of the prayer stone? Or is it that once you gain access to the stone, you learn the casting of the spell, and then you can cast it later? Or is it that you cannot ever prepare these spells in your mind, and the only way to cast them is the once per day using the prayer stone (in which case, why not detail them as simply a magic item with its abilities and specify it should be a cleric spellcaster rather than designing a spell)? Do these magic items need to be attuned? Also, don't forget to assign spells to classes. Granted, I can tell from this that all of these would be for clerics, but would any also go for paladins (for instance, circle of might, glyph of battle and glyph of protection seem warrior-priest'ish)? If someone is a cleric not of the related...See more

CREATOR
Hi Phillip. Thanks very much for the feedback. To address your questions and comments, I'll speak generally in terms of god-granted spells first. To my knowledge, Ed Greenwood was the first D&D writer to create specific spells for specific faiths (through his Pages from the Mages articles at first instance, and then in the Prayers From the Faithful sourcebook). Clearly, they aren't arcane spells where you need to find them, get them taught to you or study and craft a spell yourself. They are provided by the deity you worship (or not provided depending on what type of game you run and DM you are). As such, these spells are available to all dwaven clerics who pray for them and can even be inserted as a 'special' by a DM (i.e. in real game your player says I want x spell and the DM says well you also receive divine inspiration and get the spell "hammer of Moradin" and then provide them with the game stats for that spell). As such, you don't need access to a prayer stone to get the spell from your deity,...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
