I liked this adventure. It was a good creepy adventure. Even the most powerful can fall and what appears to be the weakest one of the group can save everyone.

I absolutely love this adventure and I have run it more than any other single module. Look to other people's notes about the combat — if it goes wrong, it can be deadly. More, if you have low intelligence characters, they may be stunned the whole fight which just isn't fun. So watch out for that.

The best thing about this module is the exploration. I've found that really playing up the creepy nature of the brain sinks is a lot of fun, and if, after they put the first brain in, you start making it sink somewhat slowly you can make a ticking clock that really forces players to move quickly even though they can take as long as they want. It helps with the suspense.

Rogue Thought will stun and then kill entire parties if they aren't prepared for him.
Given how death by Mind flayer/Intellect devourer plays out this is effectively permadeath in AL barring access to True Resurrection or Regenerate.
Make sure the players know what they are getting in to when they sit down at the table.

I DM'd this at a game store and totally underestimated the party's ability to crush the relatively squishy Boss Monster, despite it's awesome attacks and lair actions. My first mistake was placing him centrally then the party led off with a Fire Ball. What occurred to me later is that the Boss has an awesome combination by using Misty Step as a bonus action then One With Shadow so that the party won't know where he is until the next round's attack. I think he could do this 3 times! I can't wait to DM this again so I can try this trick and get revenge for the easy kill the first time.

One other comment: The Lair Action to Dispel Magic is set up as a powerful once-per-fight occurrence, but that spell is not used in combat much and it's not clear to me that it would do much. The way I played it (and the way it worked when I played it with another DM) is more like an Antimagic Field that stops spells and causes summoned creatures to disappear. I even ruled that the Druid lost his Wild Shape (which...See more

I loved this module. Not only is it a great challenge for a T2 party, it's just creepy and alien enough for the Underdark setting. There is a perfect balance of RP, exploration, puzzles, and combat in this module. I give this 4 out of 5 stars. The plotline is also very classic: A rogue mind-flayer is an issue for an Illithid colony. Exceptionally done, WOTC!

I recently ran this adventure for a store. Since I didn't purchase it on my personal account (the store did), I'm reviewing here instead of in the reviews section.
I absolutely loved this mod. Fun concept and mood, interesting characters, interesting combat scenarios and puzzle/problem-solving. Unlike many of the 2-hour mods I've seen, it's actually brief enough to really fit into 2 hours without dropping major plot points. But if you did want to expand a bit, it's got the RP and background information that would really allow players to explore.
There are a couple of typos and areas missing information, but it's all documented in the google doc with AL adventure errata/suggestions. Folks have even written up text for some of the critical missing information that you can use, so really it barely slows you down.
One of my favorite 2-hour mods so far. Overall I'd give it 4.5 stars, and the half-point off is only for the missing info.

I am preparing this mod to run in store, and I may have the old version. The final combat's "Adjusting the Encounter" section left me very confused. I am probably going to have a "Strong" party, but the entry for strong is blank. Additionally, there is mention of removing an Intellect Devourer for "Weak" parties, but there is no mention of them being in the encounter to begin with, Just Rogue Thought and 3 Githyanki.

Thoughts?

Is this the corrected version? What are the differences from the free version?

This is the final corrected version. The changes are chiefly in the puzzle and final encounter, though numerous other updates were made as well.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
