Character Focused Random Events for the City is a collection of 410 Random Events for players in any Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition campaign which features a large city.

Players roll 1D100 to see what befalls their characters as they spend time in the big city between adventures. Events range from the thoughtfully benign to the outrageously perilous. Characters will gather new friends, make new enemies, and find roleplaying opportunities at every turn.

The first 30 events on the table change to fit any combination of the standard Classes, Races, and Backgrounds from the 5e Player's Handbook, resulting in different experiences for each player at your table.

Very nicely put together list, full of useful prompts and ideas. Thanks! Any chance you could share the source of the map you used for your cover? I very much like the style and would love to find a full-size version, or maybe even commission the creator for something similar.

I used to have a link at the bottom of the description but DMsGuild only allows internal links.

Such an awesome tool! I tried this with my players and they really had a blast, and so did I. Fantastic for new or reluctant roleplayers to draw something out of their characters other than how they can kill monsters.

If you ever make more of these for additional races and backgrounds from Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide or Volo's Guide to Monsters, I'm all over it.

This is great. Tell me when you make an edited version with more races. Also, specifics for sub classes would be super cool too.

Why do you use Int (Investigation) to identify your stalker? That is not what the skill is for, whatsoever.

From the Player's Handbook page 178: "Investigation: When you look around for clues and make deductions based on those clues, you make an Intelligence (Investigation) check."

The text for the event states that you can make this check later, meaning after the scene of being followed plays out according to the DM's wishes. The Investigation check at a later time represents efforts by the character to discover who could be following them and why by asking around, looking for something the stalker may have dropped, or other ways of discovering clues.

That was my reasoning. If you or your DM think a different skill check is more appropriate it is, of course, always up to the people at the table and how they want to have fun.

Thanks so much for your interest! I'm not sure what you mean by "use this in my campaign blog" but I would prefer you use a link to the Dungeon Masters Guild rather than posting any of my content directly on your site. All of my content so far is Pay What You Want so any of your players who need the info can download it here for free and it still registers as a sale. This helps creators know that their content is being enjoyed and it motivates us to create even more for the community.

sorry if its unclear, what i want to do is use this chart for my campaign. The issue is that i write up the campaign each week and so dont want to use things that people may get upset with me using, every time i use the table there will be a link back to this page and there will be a link on a separate page with all the items i'm using, I wont claim it as my own or redistribute it, i just wanna use it to make my campaign better and link back to here when i do

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
