Race Compendium - Volume One

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This bundle of races, subraces, and feats expands the options for players and dungeon masters alike, bringing a unique and exciting experience to your tabletop.

This compendium contains:

Four new races.  The mythical hengeyokai, a race of shapeshifting humans touched with the spirit of nature; the powerful mul, half-dwarves that combine the best of human and dwarven physiology; the vengeful revnant, souls of the recently departed raised by a deity who grants them a second chance at life in exchange for their service; the newly formed wilden, a race created by the power of the Feywild in order to protect the multiverse from the influence of the Far Realm.

Four new subraces.  Genasi are rare in the multiverse of Dungeons & Dragons, and rarer still are genasi of combined elements, who's manifestations and traits blend together in powerful and exotic ways.

Sixteen new racial feats.  Each race has unique traits and features that set them apart from the other denizens of the multiverse, but few become paragons of their race's prowess.  These features exemplify the best that each race has to offer.  The feats included in this compendium include all of the officially published races in addition to the new ones in this product.

Two new spells.  Two spells which are innately castable by some of the racial options in this compendium that can also be used by spellcasters such as the Warden.

Hello, congrats for this work, i have search many many mul race version for d&d5 and this one seems to me perfect. But a question: the additional d10 hit die of Mul vitality, is only for use in rest, or also for normal hit points? Example: a level 1 mul warrior eith CON 16 start with 13 + 1d10 +3 hit points? At level 1 also, i suppose is not a maximun hit dice, and use the con modifier?. Thanks in advance.

Hey, I'm glad to hear you're happy with the Mul design!

The additional hit die doesn't count towards starting HP; it is only intended to be used while resting.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

I have been able to use your mul, and successfully! I made a barbarian / berserker - nv11 for a game against the gnoll. Undoubtedly, the benefits about sleep time and rest are the best asset, you are awake and prepared when your companions sleep, and that greatly influences the interpretation. And first of all, a mul is a mul, not just a half dwarf but a complete race. My colleagues were very satisfied with the original and defined character. Thanks for this race for D&D5! Many gnolls, two ogres, a minotaur and a cyclops have regretted knowing Tomak the mul.

ok. I have a question. Is Tireless for Mul a detriment? They only get one full rest per 72 hours?

Hey Brett,

It's not a detriment at all. Mul only need to rest once in a 72 hour period to fend off exhaustion rather than I once in a 24 hour period.

My DM allowed the races herein in his campaign. Now I am thinking about making a cat hengeyokai monk after a post I read on reddit.
After me and my DM aren't quite sure: How would you rule the transition of class features (i.e. Monk's Unarmored Defense & Martial Arts, Rogue's Sneak Attack, ...) into the animal form?
Does this fall under the rule of "can't take actions requiring hands" or would this be ok?

I feel like those types of features wouldn't translate into the animal forms due to the physiology needed to perform at that level, but would be usable in hybrid form as you're still humanoid. I'm thinking it falls under the "can't take actions requiring hands" clause. :)

um the preview doesn't show the table of contents besides the headers also the books a little close together race wise like if you broke up the pages with illustrations and or history of the races it would look quite fluid tho for 1.50 its not a bad book

The latest UA, "Gothic Heroes", has a version of the Revenant that I enjoy. For me to jump into this, I'd like to know what differences there are between the "official" UA race and the race you've made here.

Thank you!

Hey Greg, thanks for the question. I published my version of the Revenant about two months before the Gothic Heroes UA, and there are few key differences between the two.

1. My Revenant is not a subrace; it is its own race that borrows a few traits (one ability score increase, movement speed, size, and appearance) from another playable race with a trait called Returned.
2. The other traits granted by playing a Revenant are different than those in Gothic Heroes.
3. The DM acts as the player's divine sponsor rather than the player character always knowing what their goal is, and there is a side-bar that goes into extending a Revenant's time among the living in exchange for continued service.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
